Investigation – CBI Team Moves to Bhopal in Twisha Sharma Death Case
Investigation – The investigation into the death of actor and former model Twisha Sharma is now expected to shift to the Central Bureau of Investigation, with officials confirming on Monday that a CBI team has already been sent to Bhopal to formally assume control of the case.

Twisha Sharma, aged 33, was discovered dead at her residence in the Katara Hills locality of Bhopal on May 12. The incident had drawn widespread public attention, prompting demands for an independent inquiry into the circumstances surrounding her death.
Supreme Court Calls for Neutral Investigation
During a hearing held on Monday, the Supreme Court stated that the matter would be examined through a fair and unbiased process. The bench stressed the need for an independent investigation to ensure that all aspects linked to the case are reviewed transparently and without outside influence.
The court also acknowledged submissions made by the solicitor general, who informed the bench that discussions would be initiated with the concerned authorities to enable the immediate transfer of the investigation to the CBI.
Case Earlier Registered by State Police
Before the transfer decision, Madhya Pradesh Police had registered a First Information Report under Sections 80(2), 85, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita. Relevant provisions under the Dowry Prohibition Act were also included in the case.
Authorities had named Twisha Sharma’s husband, Samarth Singh, along with Giribala Singh, in the FIR filed after the actor’s death. Investigators are expected to hand over all records, evidence, witness statements, and forensic material collected so far to the central agency.
Officials familiar with the matter said the CBI would independently examine all documents and verify the evidence gathered during the initial stages of the inquiry.
Court Advises Families Against Public Statements
While hearing the matter, the Supreme Court advised both parties connected to the case to avoid making public remarks that could influence the investigation. The bench observed that statements made through television debates or media interactions could affect the ongoing inquiry process.
The judges urged members of both families to present their claims directly before the investigating agency rather than discussing them publicly. According to the court, this approach would help maintain the integrity of the investigation and prevent unnecessary speculation.
Allegations and Counterclaims Continue
Twisha Sharma’s family has alleged that she faced continuous harassment from her in-laws after marriage and claimed that the pressure eventually led to her death. They have sought strict legal action and demanded an impartial investigation into the matter.
On the other hand, members of her husband’s family have rejected the allegations and claimed that the actor had been dealing with substance-related issues. These claims are also expected to be examined as part of the wider investigation once the CBI officially takes charge.
The case has continued to attract significant attention due to Twisha Sharma’s public profile as a former model and actor. Legal experts believe the transfer to the CBI could bring greater scrutiny and a more detailed examination of the circumstances surrounding her death.
Investigators are likely to question multiple individuals connected to the case while reviewing digital records, medical reports, and other evidence linked to the incident.
