Allegations of Harassment Near Hotel

According to police officials, the incident took place outside a star hotel where the two women had reportedly stopped for tea. One of the women is from Assam, while the other belongs to Bihar. The survivors alleged that two men initially approached them and began making inappropriate remarks and gestures.

The situation reportedly escalated when several more individuals joined the group. The women claimed that the accused continued harassing them and later turned violent during the confrontation.

Assault and Racist Remarks Reported

As per the complaint filed with the police, one of the accused allegedly behaved inappropriately with one of the women and tore her clothes during the altercation. Another individual is accused of attacking one of the survivors with a bamboo stick.

Police sources said the women were also subjected to offensive racial comments and abusive language during the incident. Preliminary findings suggest that the argument intensified after the derogatory remarks were made, eventually leading to physical violence.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Hemant Tiwari stated that investigators are examining all aspects of the case, including allegations related to racial abuse and assault.

Medical Examination Conducted

Following the incident, both women were taken to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for medical examination. Officials confirmed that the required medico-legal procedures were completed shortly after the complaint was registered.

A case has been filed under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police said four suspects have been detained and are currently being questioned in connection with the matter.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the identities of the accused. Investigators are also reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area to establish the sequence of events and verify witness accounts.

Growing Concern Over Racist Abuse Cases

The incident has once again drawn attention to complaints of racial discrimination and harassment faced by people from northeastern states and other regions while living in metropolitan cities.

Earlier this year, three women from Arunachal Pradesh had alleged that they were targeted with racial slurs by neighbours in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar area. The latest case has renewed concerns over public safety, gender-based violence, and racial prejudice in the national capital.

Social activists and women’s rights groups have repeatedly urged stricter enforcement against hate-driven behaviour and quicker legal action in cases involving racial abuse and assault. Police officials stated that further investigation is underway and appropriate action will be taken based on evidence collected during the probe.
