TamilNaduPolitics – Vijay Holds Key Meeting With Stalin After Taking Office

TamilNaduPolitics –  Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay began his first full day in office with a high-profile political meeting in Chennai, where he visited former Chief Minister and DMK president M.K. Stalin at his residence. The interaction came shortly after the swearing-in of the newly formed Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam-led government and marked Vijay’s first formal engagement with senior leaders of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam since assuming power in the state.

During the visit, Vijay also met former Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin. The meeting drew significant political attention as it took place amid ongoing discussions over the changing political landscape in Tamil Nadu following the recent Assembly elections.

Assembly Members Take Oath in Chennai

The developments coincided with the oath-taking ceremony held for newly elected members of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. Legislators from different political parties formally took charge as members of the House on Monday in Chennai.

Several senior political figures participated in the ceremony, including Edappadi K. Palaniswami, O. Panneerselvam, and Udhayanidhi Stalin. Newly appointed ministers in the Vijay-led administration, such as N. Anand, Aadhav Arjuna, K.G. Arunraj, and K.A. Sengottaiyan, also completed the oath process.

Before the MLAs were sworn in, Chief Minister Vijay himself took oath as a member of the Assembly. The proceedings were conducted by pro tem Speaker M.V. Karuppaiah.

Vijay Promises Open and Transparent Governance

In his first public address after taking office as Chief Minister, Vijay said his administration would focus on transparency and accountability. He stated that all major decisions and public engagements of the government would be carried out openly.

The Chief Minister also alleged that the previous administration had weakened the state’s financial condition. He announced plans to release a white paper detailing the fiscal status of Tamil Nadu after reviewing official records and government accounts.

Vijay further assured citizens that his government would work steadily to fulfill election commitments. He asked the public for patience while his administration begins implementing key welfare measures and governance reforms across the state.

Focus on Women’s Safety and Anti-Drug Measures

Soon after assuming office, Vijay approved his government’s first set of official decisions linked to campaign promises. Among the major announcements was a plan to provide 200 units of free electricity for eligible households.

The new administration also cleared proposals to establish Special Task Forces aimed at controlling drug-related crimes and improving women’s safety in the state. Officials said these measures would be treated as priority areas under the new government.

The Chief Minister emphasized that public safety, especially for women, would remain a major focus of his administration. He also indicated that further policy decisions would be introduced in phases over the coming weeks.

TVK Emerges as Largest Party in Assembly

The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam achieved a major breakthrough in the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Assembly elections by emerging as the single-largest party in the House with 108 seats.

Although the party did not cross the majority mark on its own, it secured the backing of several regional and national allies. Support from the Congress, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, Left parties, and the Indian Union Muslim League enabled Vijay to stake claim to form the government.

Political observers believe the coming months will be crucial for the new administration as it attempts to balance governance, alliance coordination, and public expectations after a closely watched electoral victory.
