According to police officials, the collision took place at around 5:25 pm on April 12 along the southbound stretch of the Eastern Express Highway, heading from Thane towards Mumbai. The crash occurred near Vikhroli, a zone known for heavy vehicular movement during evening hours.
The victims were riding a motorcycle when a dumper truck, reportedly moving at high speed, rammed into their vehicle. The impact was severe, leaving both riders critically injured on the spot.
Victims Identified as Local Residents
Authorities later identified the deceased as Ram Narayan Santa Prasad Yadav, aged 51, and Bhimashankar Gopal Yadav, aged 35. Both individuals were residents of Krishna Nagar in the Sakinaka area. Initial reports suggest they were traveling together at the time of the accident.
Emergency responders quickly reached the scene and shifted the injured men to Rajawadi Hospital for treatment. However, despite medical efforts, both victims were declared dead at approximately 6:20 pm.
Police Action and Investigation Underway
Following the incident, the dumper truck driver was taken into custody by the police for questioning. The vehicle involved in the accident has also been seized as part of the ongoing investigation.
Officials stated that further inquiries are being conducted to determine the exact circumstances leading to the crash.
