Accident – Nine Family Members Die After Car Falls Into Well in Nashik

Accident – A tragic accident in Maharashtra’s Nashik district claimed nine lives from the same family after their car plunged into a water-filled well on Friday night.

A devastating road accident in Dindori taluka of Nashik district has left an entire community in shock, after nine members of a single family, including five children, lost their lives. The incident occurred late on April 3, when the family was returning home from a social gathering.

Car Loses Control Near Shivajinagar Area

According to local authorities, the accident took place around 10 pm near Shivajinagar in Dindori. The victims, belonging to the Dargode family and residents of Indore village, had attended a private reunion event held at a wedding venue earlier in the evening.

While heading back home, the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle within a short distance from the venue. The car veered off the road and fell into a nearby open well filled with water. The sudden nature of the accident left no opportunity for escape.

Emergency Response Faced Difficult Conditions

Officials from the local administration, along with the Nagar Panchayat fire brigade and police personnel, reached the scene shortly after receiving information. However, rescue operations proved difficult due to poor visibility at night and the depth of the water in the well.

Authorities deployed cranes and sought assistance from trained swimmers to retrieve the vehicle. After hours of coordinated effort, the submerged car was finally pulled out. Unfortunately, all nine occupants were found dead inside.

Police Statement and Rescue Details

A police officer from Dindori confirmed that information about the incident was received around 11 pm by the duty officer at the local police station. The vehicle involved was identified as a Maruti XL6, which had overturned and sunk in a well located in the Shivajinagar area.

The police team immediately reached the location and arranged for two hydra cranes along with skilled swimmers to assist in the operation. The vehicle was eventually recovered at approximately 12:15 am.

Authorities stated that all victims were residents of Indore village in Dindori taluka. With the help of local residents, the bodies were retrieved and later sent to the Government Hospital in Dindori for further procedures.

Victims Included Women and Children

The deceased included multiple members of the same family, among them women and young children. The loss has deeply affected the local community, with many expressing grief over the tragic circumstances.

Officials have registered a case and confirmed that legal procedures are underway. Investigations will focus on determining the exact cause of the driver losing control, as well as assessing road safety conditions in the area.

The incident has raised concerns about road safety and the presence of unprotected wells near public roads. Residents have urged authorities to take preventive measures to avoid similar tragedies in the future.
