Diplomatic Welcome Signals Stronger Bilateral Ties

India’s Ministry of External Affairs welcomed the Estonian leader, noting that the visit is expected to deepen the long-standing relationship between the two countries. Officials described the trip as an opportunity to expand cooperation in areas where India and Estonia have already built meaningful engagement, particularly in digital governance and technology partnerships.

India and Estonia share friendly diplomatic relations rooted in common democratic values and mutual respect. Over the years, both nations have explored collaboration in sectors such as digital innovation, cybersecurity and education. The Estonian President’s presence at the summit reflects a shared interest in emerging technologies and responsible innovation.

India Hosts Global AI Dialogue

The AI Impact Summit, being held at Bharat Mandapam in the national capital, has drawn participation from world leaders, industry executives, researchers, innovators and policymakers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed delegates from across continents, describing the event as a platform to collectively deliberate on the rapidly evolving field of Artificial Intelligence.

In a message shared on social media, the Prime Minister underlined that the summit aims to encourage meaningful conversations around innovation, collaboration and ethical use of AI technologies. He highlighted the theme of the gathering — “Sarvajana Hitaya, Sarvajana Sukhaya,” which translates to welfare for all and happiness for all — as a guiding principle for technology-driven progress.

According to the Prime Minister, Artificial Intelligence is already reshaping vital sectors including healthcare, education, agriculture, governance and business operations. He expressed confidence that discussions at the summit would contribute to shaping policies and frameworks that balance technological advancement with public interest.

Focus on Responsible and Inclusive Innovation

Experts attending the summit are expected to examine a broad range of issues, from AI-driven research and enterprise solutions to regulatory frameworks and international cooperation. As countries race to integrate advanced technologies into their economies, responsible deployment and inclusive access remain key themes of the deliberations.

India has positioned itself as a major stakeholder in global AI development, combining a strong digital infrastructure with a rapidly growing startup ecosystem. The summit is seen as part of India’s broader effort to engage with international partners in shaping future-ready technology governance models.

Previous Engagement in Paris

Earlier in February 2025, President Karis met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the Artificial Intelligence Summit in Paris. That meeting marked their first direct interaction and provided an opportunity to discuss areas of bilateral cooperation.

During the Paris discussions, both leaders reviewed progress in cybersecurity collaboration and exchanged perspectives on global conflicts and geopolitical developments. They reaffirmed their shared commitment to democratic values, rule of law and pluralism — principles that underpin relations between India and Estonia.

The ongoing visit to New Delhi is expected to build upon those conversations, with renewed emphasis on technology partnerships and multilateral cooperation. As Artificial Intelligence continues to influence global economic and security landscapes, both nations appear keen to align their strategies for sustainable and human-centric development.

The AI Impact Summit is set to continue with thematic sessions, panel discussions and bilateral meetings aimed at strengthening international collaboration in the technology sector.
