Theatre – After more than a decade away from live theatre, actor Pankaj Tripathi is stepping back onto the stage in a project that carries both professional significance and personal meaning. The acclaimed performer will appear in a special cameo in the musical comedy play Lailaaj, marking his return to theatre after a 12-year hiatus. The production represents a homecoming of sorts for Tripathi, whose acting journey began on the stage long before his rise in cinema.
A Production Rooted in Family and Theatre Traditions
Lailaaj is being presented under Roopkatha Rangmanch, the home production banner founded by Pankaj Tripathi and his wife, Mridula. Mridula has produced the play, with Tripathi serving as co-producer. Adding to the personal nature of the project, the play also features their daughter, Aashi, who will be sharing the stage with her father for the first time. Aashi made her stage debut last year and is now preparing for her first performance alongside him.
The play has been written and directed by noted theatre practitioner Faiz Mohammed Khan, whose work is known for balancing traditional performance styles with modern storytelling. Lailaaj is scheduled to open on 8 February at Rangsharda auditorium in Mumbai.
