Mumbai Shocker: Mulund Railway Station Collapses, Killing a Traffic Police Constable
Mumbai Shocker: A courageous police officer assigned to Mumbai Police’s Sahar Traffic Division perished in a terrible event at Mulund Railway Station on Wednesday night. Devidas Ditar Singh Saste, 50, has been identified as the dead. The event happened while he was on his way back to his Kalyan house after finishing his work.
Information gathered indicates that on Wednesday, December 31, Constable Devidas Saste finished his day duty and left went home on a local train. He was at Mulund Railway Station at approximately five o’clock in the evening when he abruptly lost his balance and fell into the platform.
Constables Brahmane, Bhagat, and Mahale, who were traveling with him, came to his rescue right away and transported him to the adjacent Agarwal Hospital while covered in blood. But after a medical check, the physicians pronounced him dead.
According to reports, Constable Saste has been dealing with heart problems for a while. From August 7 to November 25, 2025, he was placed on prolonged medical leave after receiving a diagnosis of four heart blockages. Only on November 26, when his health had improved, had he returned to workplace after undergoing angiography surgery at Fortis Hospital in Kalyan.
The family of the dead officer has been notified, according to Yogesh Tandale, Police Inspector in charge of the Sahar Traffic Division, who confirmed the occurrence. “The department stands firmly with the family in this hour of grief,” he said. To help the family, a special team under the direction of Sub-Inspector Naik has been sent in.
An Accidental Death Report (ADR) has been filed by the Railway Police, and an investigation is being conducted to determine the cause of death.
