Fasting campaign : During a two-day International Janmangal Conference at Bharat Mandapam, two well-known spiritual leaders, Jain monk Antarmana Prasann Sagar and yoga advocate Ramdev, started a large-scale initiative called “One Fast Every Month,” which encourages people to fast on the seventh of every month.

The four-session conference’s main topics were fasting, yoga, meditation, and indigenous philosophy as means of promoting group wellbeing. Millions of people in India and elsewhere have already joined the campaign, according to its organizers, along with a number of prominent personalities, religious leaders, and legislators.
Speaking at the opening, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that the location had turned into a “witness to spiritual and cultural science.” He acknowledged that Ramdev’s efforts in yoga, traditional wisdom, and indigenous lifestyle had helped people all around the globe and commended Antarmana Prasann Sagar for dedicating his life to spirituality, personal growth, and societal uplift. Birla promised to follow a fast once a month and said that it enhances both mental and physical health.
Speaking to the assembly, Antarmana Prasann Sagar said that fasting is a discipline that awakens inner energy, cleanses the body and mind, lessens anger, stabilizes the mind, and enhances meditation. According to him, fasting increases immunity, aids the body in starting its own healing process, and helps the practitioner achieve emotional equilibrium and detachment.
According to Ramdev, fasting is essential to all religions and customs and promotes mental and physical purity. He asked attendees to promise to observe at least one fast per month as they left the seminar. Additionally, he cited Antarmana Prasann Sagar as an exceptional example of self-discipline, citing his record of 557 straight days of fasting and his total of nearly 3,500 fasts throughout his lifetime.
A Jain monk According to Piyush Sagar, fasting improves immunity and infuses life with discipline, purity, and merit. He went on to say that generations have been changed by Ramdev’s yoga program.
Acharya Balkrishna addressed the conference, discussing the importance of fasting in Ayurveda and other cultures throughout the world. He criticized the expansion of restaurant culture and excessive consumption, claiming that these are key contributors to lifestyle disorders. He said that he would fast once every fifteen days and urged others to follow suit.
According to Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav, Ramdev taught yoga, pranayama, and Ayurveda to the whole globe. He also emphasized the Bharatiya Shiksha Board’s role in advancing indigenous education, which he thinks would provide a solid basis for a prosperous India by 2047.
The scientific advantages of fasting were outlined by renowned liver expert Dr. S. K. Sarin, who said that it helps heal fatty liver, improves the body’s self-repair mechanism, slows down aging, and dissolves fat, particularly when accompanied with exercise and yoga.
Rajat Sharma, the chairman of India TV, said that Ramdev is one of the few people who “eat only to live.” He characterized Antarmana Prasann Sagar’s sustained fasting and spiritual discipline as remarkable instances of self-control and determination.
The mood at Bharat Mandapam was like a pilgrimage, according to Delhi Minister Pravesh Verma, who indicated that fasting once a week may be even more advantageous. Additionally, MP Yogendra Chandolia promised to follow a fast once a month.
Additionally, Bharatiya Shiksha Board Chairman N. P. Singh, Acharya Lokesh Muni, Mahant Balaknath Yogi, Baba Satyanarayan Maurya, and Dr. Anurag Varshney, Director of the Patanjali Research Institute, gave talks on fasting science during the conference. There were several more spiritual leaders and dignitaries in attendance.
