Uttar Pradesh Politics –  Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leaders gathered on Sunday at an informal mango party hosted by Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak at his official residence in Lucknow. The event brought together several prominent leaders and offered a lighter moment amid ongoing political discussions and organisational meetings.

Yogi Adityanath Draws Attention at Informal BJP Event

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was among the key attendees at the gathering, along with BJP national president Nitin Nabin, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya and Uttar Pradesh BJP president Pankaj Chaudhary. Several senior party functionaries were also present.

The interaction was marked by relaxed conversations and informal exchanges among the leaders. A moment involving the chief minister became a talking point after he picked up a mango, peeled it using his teeth and smiled before taking a bite. The brief scene reflected the casual atmosphere of the afternoon gathering.

Samajwadi Party Worker Seeks Attention Ahead of 2027 Polls

In another political development, a Samajwadi Party worker drew attention after attempting to impress party chief Akhilesh Yadav while seeking a ticket for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

A video circulating on social media showed the worker approaching Akhilesh Yadav and beginning a series of push-ups in front of him. The supporter reportedly said he would complete 100 push-ups, apparently hoping to demonstrate his commitment to the party and his desire to contest the upcoming election.

Akhilesh Yadav was seen trying to stop the worker, but the supporter continued briefly before being persuaded to end the exercise. The video has since generated discussion online, with viewers reacting to the unusual way in which the worker attempted to make an impression on the party leadership.

Pawan Goenka to Attend IIT Kanpur Convocation

Meanwhile, space sector leader Pawan Goenka will return to Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur as the chief guest for its 59th convocation ceremony on July 15.

Goenka, who serves as chairman of the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre, is an alumnus of IIT Kanpur. He completed his BTech in mechanical engineering at the institute and later earned a PhD from Cornell University.

More Than 3,000 Students Expected to Receive Degrees

Around 3,100 students are expected to receive degrees during the convocation ceremony. IIT Kanpur director Prof. Manindra Agrawal will preside over the event.

Goenka has been associated with major changes in India’s space sector, including efforts to encourage private sector participation and support reforms in the industry. His work has also been linked to the implementation of the Indian Space Policy 2023 and changes to foreign direct investment norms for the sector.

The convocation is expected to bring together graduating students, faculty members, researchers, alumni and guests as IIT Kanpur marks another academic milestone.
