Governance – Yogi Adityanath Announces Student Relief and Statewide Directives
Governance – Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday unveiled a series of decisions covering student welfare, public events, administrative accountability, and infrastructure development. Among the key announcements was a travel concession for candidates appearing in the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination, along with detailed instructions related to Muharram observances and International Yoga Day programmes across the state.

Bus Fare Relief for NEET Candidates
To support students travelling for the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination scheduled on June 21, the state government has approved a 50 percent discount on bus fares. The measure is aimed at easing transportation expenses for candidates who need to travel to examination centres located in different districts.
Officials have been directed to ensure smooth implementation of the concession so that eligible students can benefit from the facility without inconvenience.
Extensive Preparations for International Yoga Day
Reviewing arrangements for International Yoga Day, the Chief Minister instructed authorities to organise events throughout Uttar Pradesh on June 21. Programmes are expected to take place in all 57,000 Gram Panchayats and 762 urban local bodies, making it one of the largest statewide observances of the event.
Yogi Adityanath stated that elected representatives would actively participate in Yoga Day activities. A special cleanliness campaign has also been scheduled for June 20 as part of the preparations.
Focus on Healthy Living and Community Participation
The state government plans to conduct large-scale yoga sessions under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.” Events will be held at Amrit Sarovars, heritage locations, and other public spaces to encourage wider community involvement.
The administration believes that such initiatives can help raise awareness about healthy lifestyles while promoting physical and mental well-being among people of all age groups.
Muharram Guidelines Issued Across the State
Ahead of Muharram, which will be observed on June 26, the Chief Minister issued instructions to district authorities to maintain peace and discipline during the period of mourning.
He emphasised that Muharram is a solemn religious occasion and should be observed with dignity. Authorities have been directed to prevent any display of weapons during processions and ensure compliance with existing regulations regarding sound systems.
The Chief Minister also instructed officials to monitor the height of Tazias and ensure that all processions are conducted within prescribed norms to avoid disruptions and maintain public safety.
Administrative Accountability Emphasised
During the review meeting, Yogi Adityanath stressed the importance of responsive governance and effective grievance resolution. He directed officials to give maximum priority to Janata Darshan programmes and public complaint mechanisms.
The Chief Minister warned that negligence in addressing citizens’ concerns would not be tolerated and could lead to strict action against responsible officials. He also instructed the administration to expedite appointments in districts where the position of Chief Medical Officer remains vacant, setting a three-day deadline for necessary action.
Noida International Airport Highlighted as Major Achievement
Earlier this week, Yogi Adityanath described the commencement of commercial flight operations at the Noida International Airport in Jewar as a landmark development for Western Uttar Pradesh and India’s aviation sector.
Addressing farmers who contributed land for the project, he credited their cooperation and support for the successful completion of the airport. The Chief Minister said the project reflects the combined efforts of local communities and government agencies working toward infrastructure expansion.
He also acknowledged the role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in advancing the initiative, stating that the airport is expected to boost regional connectivity, economic growth, and employment opportunities while strengthening Uttar Pradesh’s position in the country’s transportation network.
