A senior administrative officer in Uttar Pradesh’s Hardoi district was injured after a confrontation reportedly escalated during an official inspection related to flood management arrangements. Authorities said the incident took place in a village under Shahabad tehsil while officials were reviewing measures designed to support residents during the monsoon season.
Inspection Visit Ends in Unrest
According to district officials, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sushil Kumar Mishra was visiting Pal village on Monday to assess flood relief preparations and examine the readiness of local authorities. During the inspection, an altercation allegedly broke out involving the son of the village head.
District Magistrate Anunaya Jha stated that the disagreement intensified after the individual reportedly behaved inappropriately with the visiting officer. The situation drew the attention of several villagers, resulting in heightened tensions at the location. Officials said the crowd eventually escorted the individual away from the area.
Stone Pelting Reported During Departure
The situation reportedly worsened when the SDM was leaving the village after completing his inspection. According to the administration, a group of agitated women allegedly targeted the officer’s vehicle with stones.
During the incident, Mishra sustained a head injury. Local authorities arranged immediate medical assistance, and doctors provided first aid before administering stitches for the wound. Officials confirmed that the officer’s condition was stable after treatment.
Investigation Underway
The district administration has initiated legal proceedings against those believed to be involved in the attack. Police teams have begun collecting evidence and recording statements as part of the investigation.
Officials said efforts are underway to identify all individuals connected to the incident. Authorities have assured that action will be taken in accordance with the law once the inquiry is completed.
Administration Focuses on Accountability
Senior officials emphasized that government personnel engaged in public welfare activities must be allowed to carry out their duties without obstruction. The administration has reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order while ensuring that flood preparedness measures continue uninterrupted across vulnerable areas of the district.

Separate Police Operation in Ghazipur
In another significant development from Uttar Pradesh, police recently reported the death of a murder suspect during an encounter operation in Ghazipur district. The accused, identified as Kamlesh Bind, was wanted in connection with the killing of Vineet Rai, the son of a local hotel owner.
Officials said Kamlesh Bind carried a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his arrest. Another suspect in the same case, Shankar Pandey, who also carries a reward of Rs 1 lakh, remains absconding. Police teams are continuing search operations to locate him and other individuals linked to the case.
Officer Injured During Encounter
The police operation took place near Pawahari Baba Ashram in the Kurtha area. During the exchange, Special Operations Group (SOG) in-charge Rohit Mishra sustained injuries, officials confirmed.
Law enforcement authorities stated that investigations connected to the murder case are continuing, and efforts remain focused on apprehending all remaining accused persons.
