Crime – Police Encounter Claims Third Accused in Khurja Triple Murder Case
Crime – A key suspect in the recent triple murder case in Khurja was killed during a police encounter early Thursday, marking another significant development in the ongoing investigation.

Authorities confirmed that the accused, who had a reward of Rs 50,000 on his arrest, was involved in the killing of three young men from the same family during a birthday gathering earlier this week. His death comes just a day after two other suspects linked to the same case were apprehended following a separate encounter.
Police Operation Leads to Shootout
According to officials, the encounter occurred near the Dharau police outpost under the jurisdiction of Khurja Dehat police station. A police team was conducting routine checks when they noticed two individuals riding a scooter. When signaled to stop, the suspects allegedly tried to escape and opened fire at the police personnel.
The police team immediately responded and pursued the suspects. The chase continued up to Jhajhar Road, where the accused reportedly fired again at the officers. In response, the police returned fire in what officials described as an act of self-defence.
Injuries Reported During Encounter
During the exchange of gunfire, two police personnel sustained injuries. Additionally, bullets struck the bulletproof jackets of Khurja Nagar station house officer Ramphal Singh and a member of the SWAT team, preventing more serious harm.
One of the suspects was critically injured in the firing, while the second individual managed to flee the scene under the cover of darkness. The injured accused was immediately taken to a nearby community health centre and later referred to the district hospital. Doctors there declared him dead upon arrival.
Identity and Evidence Recovered
Police later identified the deceased as Jeetu Saini, a resident of Khurja Nagar. Officials stated that he was actively wanted in connection with the triple murder case and had been evading arrest.
At the encounter site, officers recovered an illegal .32 bore pistol, live cartridges, and a scooter that did not have a number plate. These items have been seized as part of the ongoing investigation.
Background of the Triple Murder Case
The incident that led to this series of police actions took place on the night of April 25. Three young men—Amardeep (30), Manish (28), and Akash (18)—were shot dead during a dispute that broke out at a birthday celebration in Khurja.
Police had earlier registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Five individuals had already been arrested in connection with the crime prior to Thursday’s encounter.
Ongoing Efforts to Arrest Remaining Accused
Officials confirmed that efforts are still underway to locate and apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the case. Search operations have been intensified in and around the region to ensure that all those responsible are brought to justice.
Senior officers also stated that the law and order situation in the area remains stable, and there is no immediate threat to public safety. Security measures have been maintained to prevent any escalation.
The latest encounter marks a continued push by law enforcement agencies to resolve the case swiftly and maintain public confidence in the justice system.
