Kohli’s brilliant innings came at the perfect moment after he had suffered back-to-back ducks in his previous appearances. The experienced batter answered critics in style, guiding RCB through a challenging chase and reaffirming his reputation as one of the tournament’s most dependable performers.

Krunal Pandya’s Prediction Gains Attention

After the match, RCB all-rounder Krunal Pandya drew attention on social media with a celebratory post alongside Kohli. The pair posed by making the number “100” with their hands, referencing Kohli’s century. Krunal captioned the image with a short message suggesting his earlier prediction had become reality.

The all-rounder had publicly backed Kohli after the batter’s struggles against Mumbai Indians. Speaking after that game, Krunal had described Kohli as a player who responds strongly after setbacks and insisted there was never any concern inside the dressing room regarding his form.

His comments now appear justified following Kohli’s match-winning knock against KKR.

Kohli Achieves Major T20 Milestones

The innings proved significant not only for RCB’s campaign but also for Kohli’s individual records. During the chase, the former India captain became the fastest cricketer to reach 14,000 runs in T20 cricket. He also became the first Indian batter to register 10 centuries in the shortest format.

In addition, Kohli equaled Jos Buttler’s record for the most IPL hundreds while chasing a target. The latest performance also boosted his standing in the Orange Cap race, where he climbed to third position with 484 runs from 12 matches.

So far this season, Kohli has maintained an impressive average above 50 while scoring at a strike rate exceeding 165, underlining his consistency and aggressive approach.

Raghuvanshi and Rinku Rescue KKR

Earlier in the evening, RCB elected to bowl first after winning the toss and made early breakthroughs to put KKR under pressure at 48/2.

However, young batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi steadied the innings with a composed unbeaten 71 from 46 deliveries. His knock included several timely boundaries and clean hitting during the middle overs. Rinku Singh also provided valuable support with an unbeaten 49 off 32 balls as the pair stitched together a strong partnership.

Their efforts lifted Kolkata Knight Riders to a competitive total of 192/4 in 20 overs.

For Bengaluru, Josh Hazlewood, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rasikh Salam Dar picked up one wicket each while maintaining disciplined spells during crucial phases of the innings.

Bengaluru Chase Led by Kohli

RCB’s pursuit did not begin smoothly as opener Jacob Bethell departed early for 15 runs. Despite the early setback, Kohli quickly settled into rhythm and built a crucial partnership with Devdutt Padikkal.

Padikkal contributed 39 runs from 27 balls and kept the scoreboard moving with fluent strokeplay before losing his wicket. Kohli then accelerated in the final overs, taking control of the chase with a series of attacking shots against the KKR bowlers.

His century ensured Bengaluru comfortably crossed the target in 19.1 overs with six wickets remaining.

Playoff Race Intensifies

The victory pushed Royal Challengers Bengaluru back to the top of the IPL points table with 16 points from 12 matches, including eight wins this season. With the playoffs approaching, the result strengthened their chances of securing a top-two finish.

For Kolkata Knight Riders, the defeat came at a difficult stage of the tournament. The side had recently regained momentum after a difficult stretch earlier in the season, but the loss has now placed additional pressure on their remaining fixtures.

KKR must now win their final three league matches to keep realistic playoff hopes alive.
