YSRCP – Party Alleges Breakdown of Law and Order Under TDP Rule
YSRCP – The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) on Monday strongly criticised the Telugu Desam Party (TDP)-led government, accusing it of failing to maintain law and order in the state. The opposition party alleged that governance under Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has deteriorated to the point where political intimidation and violence have become routine, and announced plans to raise these concerns at the national level.

YSRCP leaders claimed that recent incidents targeting opposition figures reflect a broader pattern of intimidation aimed at silencing dissent. According to the party, such actions signal a worrying decline in democratic norms and public safety across Andhra Pradesh.
Leadership Meeting Reviews Recent Attacks
At a meeting convened under the direction of party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, senior YSRCP leaders reviewed a series of recent incidents involving attacks on party leaders. The discussion was led by State Coordinator Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy and Legislative Council Opposition Leader Botsa Satyanarayana.
The party referred to an alleged murder attempt on former minister Ambati Rambabu and an attack on the residence of former minister Jogi Ramesh. Leaders said these incidents were not isolated, but part of a coordinated effort to intimidate opposition representatives.
Allegations of Suppression and Police Inaction
YSRCP asserted that opposition voices are being deliberately targeted through threats and attacks on private residences. Party leaders alleged that law enforcement agencies have failed to act decisively, allowing perpetrators to operate without fear of consequences. In some cases, they claimed, police either delayed response or registered cases against those who reported the attacks.
According to the party, such inaction has emboldened those responsible and created an atmosphere of fear among political opponents. YSRCP leaders maintained that despite these challenges, the party would not retreat and would instead strengthen its organisational efforts across the state.
Controversy Over Tirumala Laddu Remarks
The opposition party also accused the state government of hurting the sentiments of devotees associated with the Tirumala temple. YSRCP leaders objected to remarks made regarding the laddu prasadam, describing them as inappropriate and insensitive. They demanded a public apology from Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, stating that religious sentiments should not be trivialised for political reasons.
Party representatives said that within a short span of days, multiple former ministers and MLAs had been targeted, reinforcing concerns about the safety of opposition leaders under the current administration.
Plans for Legal and National-Level Action
Describing the situation as unprecedented in recent political history, YSRCP announced a multi-pronged response. The party said it would approach the courts, submit a formal complaint to the National Human Rights Commission, and take the matter to New Delhi to seek intervention from central authorities.
Leaders emphasised that attempts to weaken the opposition through intimidation would ultimately fail, adding that public opinion would turn against any effort to suppress democratic expression.
Demand for Central Forces Deployment
Earlier in the day, YSRCP reiterated its demand for the deployment of central forces in Andhra Pradesh, citing what it described as unchecked, politically motivated violence. Speaking to the media, Kurnool district party president SV Mohan Reddy alleged that recent attacks demonstrated the vindictive approach of the ruling coalition.
He claimed that assaults on the residences of Ambati Rambabu and Jogi Ramesh continued for several hours and involved the use of petrol bombs. Mohan Reddy further alleged that such acts could not have occurred without the tacit approval of senior leadership, accusing the police of remaining passive throughout the incidents.
According to him, the absence of timely intervention raised serious questions about governance and accountability, and he warned that those involved would eventually be held responsible as political circumstances evolve.
