The IMD has forecast scattered light to moderate rainfall in regions such as Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. These areas may also experience thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds ranging between 30 and 50 kilometres per hour, with occasional gusts reaching up to 60 kilometres per hour.
States including Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and parts of East Rajasthan are also expected to witness comparable weather conditions, indicating a broader system affecting the northern region.
Fresh Wet Spell Expected in Coming Days
Looking ahead, weather experts have predicted a fresh spell of rainfall between April 7 and April 10. This period is likely to bring more widespread precipitation, including snowfall in higher altitude areas such as Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
Delhi and surrounding regions, including parts of West Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan, are expected to receive scattered to fairly widespread rainfall during April 7 and 8. Thunderstorms and gusty winds are likely to accompany these showers, potentially leading to brief disruptions.
Warning for Strong Winds and Hailstorms
In addition to rainfall, the IMD has issued warnings regarding strong winds and severe weather events. Certain parts of Rajasthan may experience thundersqualls with wind speeds reaching up to 70 kilometres per hour.
There is also a possibility of isolated hailstorms across several northern states, including Delhi, during April 7 and 8. Heavy rainfall has been predicted in select areas such as the Kashmir Valley and parts of Himachal Pradesh, which could impact local conditions.
