TamilNaduPolitics – Kasthuri Backs Vijay Government Amid Opposition Criticism
TamilNaduPolitics – Actress Kasthuri Shankar has voiced strong support for Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay and the recently formed Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government, saying criticism from rival parties should not distract the administration from its agenda.

The actress spoke to reporters in Coimbatore and defended the early functioning of the new government. According to her, public patience is necessary as the administration settles into office and new lawmakers adjust to their responsibilities.
Call for Patience During Administrative Transition
Kasthuri said several ministers and MLAs are entering governance for the first time and will require time to gain experience in handling public administration. She also pointed to changes within the bureaucracy, suggesting that such transitions are common whenever a new government takes charge.
She argued that attacks from the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) indicate that the Vijay-led administration is making visible political progress. Referring to the reported closure of TASMAC liquor outlets in certain regions, she described the move as a positive development for the state.
The actress further stated that political realignments and leaders shifting loyalties are not unusual in Tamil Nadu politics. Drawing comparisons with previous electoral cycles, she noted that similar changes had taken place when the AIADMK came to power in earlier years.
Political Exchanges Intensify After Formation of Government
Her remarks come at a time when political debates between the ruling alliance and opposition parties have continued following the formation of the TVK-led coalition government in Tamil Nadu.
The Vijay administration secured power after winning the confidence vote in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly with support from multiple alliance partners. The coalition received backing from Congress, CPI, CPI(M), VCK, IUML, and independent support from expelled AMMK MLA S. Kamaraj during the floor test.
The successful trust vote strengthened the government’s position and reinforced the alliance structure that helped TVK form the administration.
Cabinet Expansion Discussions Continue
Meanwhile, TVK Minister Aadhav Arjuna said Chief Minister Vijay wants the state cabinet to operate with unity and collective responsibility. According to Arjuna, the Chief Minister is keen on ensuring that parties which supported the government during the trust vote are given representation in the cabinet.
He added that discussions related to cabinet expansion are continuing and that an official announcement from the Chief Minister is expected soon.
Arjuna emphasized that the alliance remains stable despite criticism from opposition parties. He said the coalition leadership intends to maintain cooperation among its partners while focusing on governance and administration.
Allegations Against DMK and AIADMK
During his interaction with the media, Arjuna also targeted both the DMK and the AIADMK. He alleged that the two major parties had attempted to work together after the Assembly elections in a manner that did not reflect the public mandate.
According to him, both parties tried to create political conditions that could have resulted in President’s Rule in the state. However, no formal response from either the DMK or AIADMK was immediately available regarding these allegations.
The political atmosphere in Tamil Nadu has remained highly active since the coalition government assumed office, with both ruling and opposition parties continuing to exchange criticism over governance, alliances, and future policy direction.
Despite the ongoing political confrontation, the Vijay-led administration appears focused on consolidating its alliance and strengthening its governance structure during the early phase of its tenure.
