Search Operations Expanded Across Key Areas

Authorities confirmed that coordinated operations were conducted in multiple districts as part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal activities and maintain public safety. Security personnel focused particularly on vulnerable and fringe locations, where area domination exercises were intensified to prevent any potential disturbances.

In Bishnupur district, a search operation led to the seizure of a pistol, live ammunition, a high-explosive hand grenade, and a single-barreled firearm. Additional items, including blank rounds and cartridges, were also recovered from areas near Upokpi Khunou Mamang Leikai and the adjoining Loktak Lake region.

Major Seizure Reported in Churachandpur

A separate operation at Dampi Ridge in Churachandpur district resulted in a large cache of arms and equipment being uncovered. Among the items recovered were a modified AK-47 rifle, multiple 12-bore rifles, and 9 mm pistols along with their magazines. Security personnel also seized improvised mortars, commonly referred to as “Pumpis,” along with over 80 rounds of live ammunition.

In addition to firearms, the team recovered protective gear such as bulletproof jackets, communication devices like walkie-talkies, and approximately one kilogram of explosive material. Officials described the recovery as a significant step in preventing potential threats in the region.

Drugs Seized in Border Town Operation

In another development, security forces recovered suspected narcotic substances from the Homeguard Veng area in Moreh, located in Tengnoupal district. The operation led to the seizure of three packets of WY tablets weighing around 3.5 kilograms. Authorities believe the recovery is part of ongoing efforts to combat cross-border drug trafficking.

Bunkers Destroyed in Imphal East

Security teams also carried out operations in the Satang Hill range under the jurisdiction of Sagolmang Police Station in Imphal East district. During the operation, three bunkers believed to have been used for unlawful purposes were dismantled and destroyed. Officials said such actions are aimed at removing potential hideouts and strengthening control in vulnerable zones.

Movement of Essential Supplies Maintained

Despite the heightened security measures, authorities ensured the uninterrupted movement of essential goods. A total of 290 vehicles transporting necessary supplies were escorted safely along National Highway-37. Security convoys were deployed in sensitive stretches to guarantee smooth and secure transit.

Increased Surveillance and Public Advisory

To strengthen monitoring, 116 checkpoints were set up across various districts, covering both hill and valley regions. Officials reported that no individuals were detained during these checks, indicating a largely peaceful situation on the ground.

Meanwhile, Manipur Police issued an advisory urging residents to remain cautious about misinformation. Citizens were asked not to trust unverified videos, audio clips, or social media posts that could create confusion or panic. Authorities warned that sharing false information online could lead to legal consequences.

Additionally, the police appealed to the public to cooperate by voluntarily returning any looted arms, ammunition, or explosives to the nearest police station or security personnel. Officials emphasized that public cooperation remains essential in maintaining stability and ensuring long-term peace in the state.
