Robbery – Bengaluru Police Recover Stolen Gold and Cash After Armed House Robbery Arrests
Robbery – Bengaluru police have made significant progress in an armed robbery investigation after arresting two suspects accused of carrying out a violent break-in at a residence in Padarayanapura. The operation led to the recovery of gold jewellery, cash, and the vehicle allegedly used during the offence.
The J.J. Nagar Police arrested two men in connection with a robbery that took place at a house in Padarayanapura, Bengaluru. According to investigators, the accused allegedly entered the residence by force while the homeowner’s daughter was alone inside. During the incident, the suspects reportedly threatened the young woman with what appeared to be a knife and assaulted her using a fake lighter pistol, leaving her with a head injury. They then escaped with gold ornaments and cash from the house.
Complaint Led to Immediate Police Investigation
Police said the victim’s mother, who lives on 7th Cross in Padarayanapura, lodged a complaint on July 6, 2026. She informed officers that two unidentified individuals had entered the house earlier that day and robbed valuables from a bedroom cupboard. Along with gold jewellery, the suspects allegedly took Rs 2 lakh in cash before fleeing the scene. Based on the complaint, J.J. Nagar Police registered a robbery case and began an investigation.
Arrests Made Through Intelligence Inputs
As part of the investigation, officers gathered information from local sources and followed several leads. On July 10, 2026, police intercepted two suspects near Haleguddadahalli. They were taken into custody along with a two-wheeler believed to have been used during the robbery. During questioning, investigators said both men admitted their involvement in the crime.
The accused were presented before a court on July 11, 2026. Police were granted five days of custody to continue questioning them and to trace the stolen property.
Recovery of Gold Jewellery and Cash
During interrogation, the suspects allegedly disclosed that part of the stolen jewellery and cash had been hidden at the residence of one of the accused in 4th Cross, Chamarajpet. Acting on this information, police conducted a search on July 11 and recovered 105 grams of gold jewellery along with Rs 8 lakh in cash.
Investigators later learned that the remaining jewellery had been handed over to one of the accused’s relatives. On July 16, 2026, the relative produced a 34-gram gold bar before the police, which was subsequently seized as part of the investigation.
Total Property Recovered
With the latest recovery, police said they have seized a total of 139 grams of gold jewellery, including the 34-gram gold bar, Rs 8 lakh in cash, and the two-wheeler allegedly used during the robbery. The combined value of the recovered property has been estimated at Rs 25.5 lakh.
Court Proceedings and Police Team
Both accused were produced before the court again on July 14, 2026, after which they were remanded to judicial custody. The investigation remains subject to further legal proceedings.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police Yatheeesh N., IPS, West Division, with guidance from Assistant Commissioner of Police Uday Bhaskar G.V. of the Byatarayanapura Sub-Division. The case was detected by the team led by Inspector Kantaraj K. of J.J. Nagar Police Station, assisted by other officers and police personnel involved in the investigation.
