PresidentVisit – President Droupadi Murmu will travel to Jharkhand on Thursday to attend key public events in Jamshedpur, where she is scheduled to lay the foundation stone of a new spiritual and cultural centre before interacting with students at a leading medical college.

President Murmu’s day-long programme will begin with her arrival at Sonari Airport around noon. The foundation stone ceremony at Kadma will mark the formal start of construction for the charitable centre. Local organisers have made arrangements for a limited gathering, keeping attendance restricted to invited guests and officials.
After completing the ceremony, the President will proceed to Tata Manipal Medical College in Baridiha, where a separate programme has been organised in her honour. The visit is being seen as significant for both the institution and the city, given the President’s longstanding association with Jharkhand.
Interaction with Students at Medical College
At Tata Manipal Medical College, the President’s schedule includes a meeting with academically outstanding students. The programme will open with a photo session involving students who have secured top ranks across different semesters. This will be followed by an interactive session described by the college administration as an introductory conference, offering meritorious students an opportunity to engage directly with the Head of State.
In addition to the interaction, President Murmu is expected to tour the campus facilities and participate in a tree-plantation drive. College authorities have also outlined plans for a future “Draupadi Murmu Sports and Food Complex” within the campus, a project intended to enhance student amenities and recreational infrastructure.
Attendance at the college event has been capped at 200 participants to ensure smooth coordination and security compliance.

Extensive Security Arrangements Across the City
In view of the high-profile visit, security has been significantly strengthened throughout Jamshedpur. Authorities have deployed nearly 4,000 police personnel and 125 magistrates to oversee arrangements along the convoy route and at the event venues.
Three specialised hit teams will form a crucial component of the security framework. These quick-response units, comprising highly trained personnel skilled in advanced combat and precision shooting, will remain on standby throughout the visit. One team will be positioned at Sonari Airport, another at Kadma police station, and the third at Sidgora police station to ensure rapid deployment in case of any emergency.
In addition, 24 buildings located along the President’s convoy route have been identified as sensitive points. Security forces will station personnel on rooftops to maintain constant surveillance. Monitoring will be further reinforced through CCTV systems and drone cameras covering key stretches of the route.
Police teams equipped with binoculars will also be stationed at strategic locations, while Rapid Action Police units will remain deployed near the Kadma and Baridiha venues as well as at the Mango bus stand. Officials have described the arrangements as comprehensive, aimed at ensuring the President’s movements remain smooth and secure throughout her stay in the city.
