Politics – Pawan Kalyan Reviews Godavari Pushkar Arrangements in Rajamahendravaram
Politics – Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan on Monday carried out a detailed inspection of arrangements being made for the upcoming Godavari Pushkar festival while also reviewing areas impacted by water contamination in Rajamahendravaram. The visit focused on evaluating both public facilities and ongoing environmental protection efforts along the Godavari River.

Inspection Conducted Through River Route
The Deputy Chief Minister travelled by a specially arranged boat to examine several stretches of the river directly. During the inspection, he assessed preparations related to crowd management, sanitation, safety measures, and riverfront facilities expected to be used during the religious gathering.
Officials accompanying him explained the current status of work being undertaken for the Pushkar event, which attracts large numbers of devotees from across the country. The review also included discussions on improving infrastructure and ensuring smooth arrangements for pilgrims visiting the riverbanks during the festival period.
Officials Present Detailed Pollution Report
Senior district authorities, including the East Godavari District Collector and representatives from the Rajahmundry Municipal Corporation, briefed Pawan Kalyan on pollution-related concerns affecting parts of the river. The officials outlined the steps already initiated to control contamination and improve water quality in vulnerable stretches.
According to the briefing, several measures are being planned to strengthen waste management systems and reduce the discharge of pollutants into the river. Authorities also discussed monitoring systems aimed at preserving the ecological condition of the Godavari ahead of the major religious event.
Focus on Public Safety and Cleanliness
The Deputy Chief Minister reportedly stressed the importance of maintaining hygiene and ensuring adequate facilities for pilgrims expected during Godavari Pushkar. Officials informed him about temporary arrangements being planned for drinking water, transportation, medical assistance, and crowd regulation.
The inspection comes at a time when the state government is increasing preparations for the event while also facing growing concerns over river pollution and environmental management in urban areas near the Godavari.
