LPGSupply – Delhi Government Assures No Fuel Shortage Amid Rumour Concerns
LPGSupply – The Delhi government has stated that the supply of essential fuels such as LPG, petrol, diesel and piped natural gas continues without interruption in the national capital. Authorities said there is no shortage of these fuels and residents should not worry about disruptions in daily supply.

Officials issued the clarification after reports and rumours began circulating about a possible shortage of cooking gas in the city. The administration urged citizens not to believe unverified claims and requested people to avoid panic buying or unnecessary stockpiling of fuel products.
Government Reviews Fuel Distribution Situation
The assurance followed a high-level meeting held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary of Delhi. The meeting was called to closely review the current supply situation and address public concerns regarding the availability of LPG cylinders and other fuels.
Senior officials from multiple departments attended the discussion, including representatives from the Department of Food, Supplies and Consumer Affairs, the Revenue Department and Delhi Police. Officials from Indraprastha Gas Limited and major oil marketing companies also participated in the meeting.
During the review, authorities assessed supply chains and distribution networks across the capital. Officials informed the meeting that deliveries of LPG cylinders and fuel products are proceeding as scheduled and there has been no disruption in transportation or distribution.
Government sources said the meeting also focused on monitoring misinformation spreading about fuel shortages. Departments were instructed to keep communication channels active so that any confusion among residents can be quickly addressed.
Appeal to Residents to Avoid Panic Buying
The Delhi administration appealed to citizens to remain calm and rely only on official information regarding fuel supply. Authorities emphasised that hoarding fuel products could create unnecessary pressure on distribution systems even when adequate stock is available.
Officials also said that oil marketing companies and gas suppliers have sufficient reserves to meet regular demand across households, transport services and commercial establishments. The administration has directed relevant departments to continue monitoring the situation closely to ensure uninterrupted supply.
Opposition Criticises Central Government Over LPG Concerns
While the Delhi government sought to reassure residents, the issue of LPG availability has triggered political reactions from opposition parties.
Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal criticised the central government over what he described as a nationwide LPG supply crisis. Speaking at a press conference, he alleged that the situation was affecting several sectors, including restaurants, hotels and small industries that rely heavily on cooking gas for daily operations.
Kejriwal claimed that reduced availability of LPG could disrupt economic activity in some areas. He also raised concerns about the broader impact of energy supply challenges on employment and industrial activity.
In his remarks, the former Delhi chief minister also questioned the central government’s foreign policy decisions and their possible economic consequences. He argued that national interests should remain the primary focus in international engagements.
Congress Targets Delhi Government Over Cylinder Prices
The Congress party in Delhi also criticised the local government, raising concerns about rising prices of cooking gas cylinders. Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav said households are struggling with the increasing cost of LPG cylinders.
He further alleged that the government has not fulfilled its election promise of providing subsidised cooking gas cylinders and distributing free cylinders during festivals such as Holi and Diwali.
According to Yadav, rising fuel prices combined with concerns over supply are placing additional financial pressure on families in the city. The Delhi Congress has announced plans to hold demonstrations to highlight the issue and demand relief for consumers.
Authorities Continue Monitoring Fuel Availability
Despite the political debate, officials maintain that fuel supplies in Delhi remain stable. Authorities said they will continue reviewing distribution systems and coordinating with oil companies to ensure residents do not face shortages.
Government departments have also been asked to keep monitoring the situation in order to quickly address any logistical challenges that might arise. Officials reiterated that residents should depend on verified information from government sources and avoid reacting to unconfirmed reports circulating online.
