Investigation – CPM Calls for Release of Tirupati Laddu Probe Report
Investigation – The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has urged the State government to disclose the findings of a probe into the alleged adulteration of Tirupati laddu, stressing that transparency is essential to restore public confidence.

The party has raised concerns over the delay in releasing the report prepared by a one-member commission led by retired IAS officer Dinesh Kumar. According to CPM leaders, the findings have already been submitted to the Chief Minister, yet they remain unavailable to the public, leading to growing speculation and confusion.
Demand for Immediate Disclosure
State secretary V Srinivasa Rao said that the government should not withhold information on a matter that directly affects public trust. He pointed out that several media outlets have carried varying interpretations of the commission’s findings, creating uncertainty among devotees and citizens alike.
Rao emphasized that making the report public would help clarify the facts and prevent misinformation. He noted that when different versions of the same issue circulate, it undermines credibility and fuels unnecessary debate.
Conflicting Reports Raise Questions
The CPM highlighted that discrepancies in media coverage have made it difficult for people to understand the actual conclusions of the inquiry. Without official confirmation, these reports have led to mixed perceptions about the seriousness of the issue and the responsibility of those involved.
Rao stated that such ambiguity could have been avoided if the government had released the report promptly. He added that transparency in sensitive matters is crucial, especially when they involve religious institutions and food safety.
Call for Broader Political Discussion
The party also indicated that the commission is believed to have offered several recommendations in its report. It urged the government not only to publish the findings but also to share the suggested measures for corrective action.
According to CPM leaders, these recommendations should be discussed in an all-party meeting to ensure a collective approach. They argued that involving all political stakeholders would help build consensus and strengthen accountability in handling the issue.
Importance of Public Trust
The Tirupati laddu controversy has attracted significant attention, given its religious and cultural importance. CPM leaders said that any doubts surrounding the quality or safety of such offerings must be addressed with seriousness and clarity.
Rao stressed that restoring faith among devotees should be the government’s priority. He added that withholding information could deepen suspicion, while openness would help rebuild confidence.
Government Urged to Act Responsibly
The CPM reiterated that the State government has a responsibility to act in a transparent and timely manner. It called for the immediate release of the report, along with a clear outline of the steps that will be taken based on its findings.
Rao concluded that addressing the issue openly would not only resolve confusion but also demonstrate the government’s commitment to accountability. He said that timely action and clear communication are essential to ensure that such controversies do not escalate further.
