Tip-Off Leads to Targeted Search Operation

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Krushikesh Rawale, the operation was launched after law enforcement received specific information regarding the presence of foreign nationals allegedly staying in the area without proper documentation. Acting on the input, a team conducted a search in parts of Budhwar Peth on Wednesday.

During the operation, police detained a total of 22 women for verification of their identities and documents. Subsequent checks revealed that 11 of them were Bangladeshi nationals who had been living in the city for the past several months without legal permission.

Fake Identification Documents Recovered

Officials stated that the detained women were found carrying forged Aadhaar cards and other documents that appeared to establish residential status. These documents are now under examination as part of the ongoing probe.

Investigators are working to determine how the forged identification papers were obtained and whether a larger network may be involved in facilitating illegal stay or document fabrication. Authorities have not yet disclosed further operational details, citing the sensitivity of the investigation.

Verification and Legal Proceedings Underway

Police officials said that the identities and backgrounds of the women are being verified in coordination with relevant agencies. Necessary legal steps will be initiated in accordance with immigration and foreign nationals regulations, they added.

Deputy Commissioner Rawale noted that further inquiry is ongoing to ascertain the duration of their stay and any possible local connections that may have assisted them. “We are continuing our investigation to understand the full scope of the matter,” he said.

Focus on Law Enforcement and Documentation Compliance

The action forms part of routine enforcement efforts to identify individuals residing in the city without valid documents. Authorities reiterated that verification drives are periodically carried out based on specific intelligence inputs.

While Budhwar Peth is a densely populated commercial area, officials clarified that the operation was based solely on credible information related to immigration compliance and documentation irregularities.

No additional arrests were reported at the time of filing this report. Police indicated that further updates would be shared once the investigation progresses.
