Employment – Government Recruitment Drive Reaches Thousands of Young Indians
Employment – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday handed over more than 51,000 appointment letters to newly selected candidates during a virtual edition of the nationwide Rozgar Mela programme. The recruitment initiative, organised simultaneously across several cities, marked another step in the Centre’s ongoing effort to strengthen employment generation in public sector institutions.

The Prime Minister addressed the newly appointed candidates through video conferencing and described the occasion as a significant moment for thousands of families across the country. He said the recruitment drive would help young professionals contribute directly to India’s economic and social development while taking up responsibilities in essential government departments.
Recruitment Across Key Government Departments
According to official information, the selected candidates will join multiple ministries and departments under the central government. These include railways, banking services, defence establishments, health and family welfare, higher education, and the ministry of home affairs. Several recruits have also been appointed in departments connected with financial services and administrative operations.
Officials stated that the appointments were distributed at 47 different locations across India as part of the Rozgar Mela programme. The initiative has been designed to speed up recruitment processes and provide employment opportunities to eligible candidates in a transparent manner.
During his address, Modi highlighted that the newly recruited employees would become active participants in India’s development journey. He said their contribution in sectors such as transportation, healthcare, education, and security would support the country’s long-term growth plans.
Focus on India’s Youth Workforce
The Prime Minister said young people are playing a major role in shaping the country’s future and accelerating progress towards the vision of a developed India. He added that the government views the nation’s youth population as one of its strongest assets and is continuously working to create fresh opportunities for them.
He also noted that global interest in India’s growth story has increased in recent years, particularly because of the country’s expanding digital infrastructure and technological progress. According to him, the international community is showing greater confidence in India’s workforce and innovation capabilities.
Modi further said that initiatives such as Rozgar Mela reflect the government’s commitment to empowering young citizens and integrating them into national development programmes. He congratulated all newly appointed candidates as well as their families for achieving an important milestone.
Rozgar Mela Expands Nationwide
Since the launch of the Rozgar Mela initiative, around 12 lakh appointment letters have reportedly been distributed through 18 recruitment events held across the country. Government officials said the programme is intended to reduce delays in public sector hiring while ensuring that vacancies in key departments are filled efficiently.
The initiative has gained importance as the government continues to focus on employment generation and administrative strengthening. Recruitment drives under the programme are conducted periodically and involve coordination between different ministries and agencies.
Officials added that candidates selected through these recruitment exercises come from diverse regions and backgrounds, reflecting the nationwide reach of the initiative. The appointments are expected to strengthen workforce capacity in departments that handle public services and infrastructure operations.
