A shocking discovery was made early Thursday morning when the body of a man was found lying near a roadside in Jhujhurgacha village, under the Minakhan Assembly segment. Local residents immediately alerted authorities after noticing the severely injured body.

Police later confirmed that the deceased was 38-year-old Moshiur Kazi, a resident of Gangnia village within the Haroa Assembly constituency. According to preliminary findings, the victim had sustained multiple deep wounds caused by a sharp weapon, indicating a violent attack.

Residents in the area claimed that Kazi was an active worker associated with the Trinamool Congress. His death has triggered speculation of political motives, particularly as tensions have already been escalating following candidate announcements in the district.

Speaking to reporters, Kazi’s brother described the incident as a brutal and targeted act, stating that his sibling had been “mercilessly attacked” and calling for strict action against those responsible.

Authorities noted that the victim’s face had been severely disfigured, making identification difficult at first. A senior official from the Basirhat Police District stated that a case has been registered and an investigation is underway. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine further details about the cause and timing of death.
