EducationNews – AAP Questions Police Handling of Janakpuri School Assault Case

EducationNews –  A political controversy has intensified in Delhi after the Aam Aadmi Party accused the police of mistreating the family of a three-year-old girl allegedly assaulted inside a private school in Janakpuri. The party has also raised questions about whether the institution’s reported political connections are affecting the progress of the investigation.

AAP Raises Concerns Over Police Conduct

Speaking at a press briefing on Sunday, Delhi AAP chief Saurabh Bharadwaj alleged that the victim’s parents were being pressured instead of receiving support from law enforcement authorities. He claimed that senior police officials repeatedly summoned the family and kept them waiting for long hours at the police station.

According to Bharadwaj, the child’s mother had expressed concerns about the school’s political influence. He questioned why the family, already dealing with severe trauma, was allegedly being subjected to intimidation during the investigation process.

Questions Raised Over School Links

The AAP leader also referred to a recent public event reportedly held at SS Mota Singh School, where Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta were said to be present. He argued that despite the seriousness of the allegations, no action had been initiated against school authorities or the class teacher mentioned in the complaint.

Bharadwaj stated that the accused in the case had secured bail from a POCSO court within days of the arrest, raising further concerns about the handling of the matter. He questioned why the teacher allegedly present during the incident had not faced legal action so far.

Emotional Impact on the Family

During the press conference, Bharadwaj described the emotional distress faced by the child and her parents. He said that very young children often experience fear and anxiety during their first days at school, making the allegations even more disturbing for the family.

He added that the mother was devastated after the child reportedly described the incident at home. According to him, medical examination findings later confirmed injuries that intensified the family’s concerns.

The AAP leader accused local police officials, including station staff, of failing to act sensitively while interacting with the victim’s family. He claimed the parents were repeatedly called for questioning and made to remain at the police station for extended periods.

Political Reactions Intensify

The controversy has now triggered a wider political debate in Delhi over child safety and the accountability of institutions handling cases involving minors. Bharadwaj also targeted the office of the Lieutenant Governor and the Delhi government, asking whether adequate steps were being taken to ensure justice for the victim.

Referring to Mother’s Day, he criticized authorities for allegedly failing to support a mother seeking justice for her child. He further alleged that the school administration did not cooperate fully with the family during the investigation.

Focus on Child Safety and Investigation Transparency

The case has drawn public attention to the safety measures followed by private educational institutions and the manner in which sensitive crimes involving children are investigated. Legal experts and child rights activists have repeatedly emphasized the need for trauma-sensitive handling of survivors and their families in cases registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

Delhi Police has not yet issued a detailed public response to the latest allegations made by the Aam Aadmi Party. Meanwhile, the incident continues to remain under public and political scrutiny as demands for transparency and accountability grow stronger.
