Indian Community Receives Warm Praise in The Hague

Speaking at the community event, the Prime Minister said the enthusiasm shown by Indians living in the Netherlands created an emotional connection that briefly made him forget he was outside India. He noted that interactions with overseas Indians always leave a lasting impression because of their affection and strong attachment to their roots.

Modi thanked the people and government of the Netherlands on behalf of India, acknowledging the role played by the Indian-origin population in strengthening ties between the two nations. According to him, Indians living abroad continue to enhance the country’s image globally through their professional achievements and social contributions.

Migration Stories Reflect Determination and Progress

During his address, Modi spoke about the long journey of Indian families who settled overseas over several generations. He described their experiences not merely as migration stories, but as examples of determination, struggle, and eventual success.

The Prime Minister said Indian traditions have remained deeply connected to families despite changes in countries, lifestyles, and generations. He remarked that while many cultures around the world have weakened with time, India’s cultural identity continues to remain vibrant among people living far from their homeland.

He also appreciated the diaspora for maintaining ancestral languages and passing traditions to younger generations. Modi highlighted that Indians in the Netherlands successfully embraced Dutch society without losing touch with their heritage.

Community Radio and Cultural Connections Appreciated

The Prime Minister specially mentioned Indian community radio stations operating in the Netherlands, saying they play an important role in promoting Indian music, traditions, and cultural values among local families. He said such efforts help preserve emotional bonds with India while also introducing Dutch communities to Indian culture.

According to Modi, family values and the sense of belonging continue to unite Indians worldwide. He added that these cultural links have remained strong because overseas Indians never abandoned the languages and customs inherited from earlier generations.

PM Modi Recalls Political Milestone of May 16

Highlighting the significance of the date, Modi referred to May 16, 2014, when the Lok Sabha election results confirmed a majority government led by the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance. He described the day as a turning point in Indian politics, noting that it marked the return of a stable government after many years.

The Prime Minister said the support he has received over the years reflects the trust of millions of citizens. Referring to his long tenure in public life, he mentioned his years as Gujarat Chief Minister and later as Prime Minister, calling the continued public backing a matter of deep gratitude rather than political achievement alone.

Public Service Driven by Trust and Responsibility

Modi stated that his journey in governance has been shaped by a commitment to collective welfare rather than personal ambition. He said the confidence shown by people across the country motivates him to continue working without pause.

He added that public support represents emotional strength and responsibility, describing it as his greatest source of encouragement. The Prime Minister’s speech repeatedly focused on unity, cultural continuity, and the role of overseas Indians in building stronger international relationships.

The visit to the Netherlands forms part of Modi’s five-nation foreign tour scheduled from May 15 to May 20. Earlier, he visited the United Arab Emirates in the first phase of the diplomatic trip. The ongoing tour is aimed at expanding strategic cooperation and deepening India’s engagement with global partners.
