Congress – Veteran Leaders’ Meeting Sparks Fresh Buzz Over Party’s Strategic Direction

Congress –   The Congress appears to be reassessing its leadership strategy as recent developments indicate a renewed focus on experienced figures within the party.

Congress veteran leaders strategy meeting

The presence of several senior Congress leaders at Sonia Gandhi’s residence in New Delhi has once again triggered discussions about the party’s future political course. Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot was seen attending the gathering alongside senior leaders Salman Khurshid, Mukul Wasnik, Pawan Bansal, and Janardan Dwivedi. Although the meeting was officially linked to the functioning of Congress-affiliated trusts, its timing has drawn considerable political attention.

Senior Leaders’ Meeting Draws Political Attention

A short video from the meeting quickly circulated, prompting speculation about Gehlot’s possible return to a more prominent role in the party’s national affairs after remaining away from the central decision-making process for an extended period. Political observers believe the gathering may reflect an effort by the Congress leadership to strengthen its organisational framework by relying on experienced leaders as it prepares for upcoming electoral challenges.

While party sources have not indicated any major organisational decisions arising from the meeting, the appearance of multiple veterans together has been interpreted as a signal that experience could play a greater role in shaping future strategies.

Pinky Meena Returns to Administrative Service

In Rajasthan, a significant administrative development has brought former RAS officer Pinky Meena back into government service after a prolonged period without an official posting. As part of the Bhajan Lal government’s large-scale transfer order involving 178 Rajasthan Administrative Service officers, Meena has been appointed Assistant Director (Public Services) in the Administrative Reforms and Coordination Department at Sawai Madhopur.

Her return has revived public interest because of the high-profile corruption case that attracted nationwide attention in 2021. At the time, Meena was serving as the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Bandikui when the Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested her over allegations of accepting a bribe of ₹10 lakh in connection with work related to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway project.

The case remained widely discussed not only because of the investigation but also due to her wedding, which took place while she was on interim bail, becoming a major talking point across news platforms. Her latest appointment now marks the end of a lengthy phase without an active administrative assignment.

AI-Based Road Safety Initiative Begins in Kota-Bundi

Meanwhile, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has launched an ambitious road safety programme aimed at reducing fatal accidents in the Kota-Bundi parliamentary constituency through the use of advanced technology and coordinated governance.

Named the Zero Fatality District Program, the initiative has been introduced following findings by the Save Life Foundation, which reported that the region records more than 400 road accident deaths every year. The programme seeks to improve road safety by combining artificial intelligence with modern traffic management systems.

Authorities plan to introduce AI-powered surveillance, smart monitoring technology, engineering improvements at accident-prone locations, and a more efficient emergency response mechanism. Officials believe these measures will help identify risk factors more quickly and improve response times following road accidents.

Multiple Agencies to Work Together

The project will involve close coordination among several government departments, including the National Highways Authority of India, the Public Works Department, the Transport Department, and the Police. The collaborative approach is intended to ensure better planning, monitoring, and implementation of safety measures across major roads in the constituency.

Officials hope the technology-driven model can significantly reduce fatalities and eventually serve as a framework for similar road safety initiatives in other districts if it delivers the expected results.
