BombThreat – Security Alert After Threat Emails Sent to Key Mumbai Buildings

The alerts prompted evacuations and precautionary searches at multiple locations, with police and bomb disposal experts deployed to ensure public safety.

Mumbai bomb threat security alert

Security teams rush to key locations

According to officials, the threatening emails were reported at the Bombay Stock Exchange building, Vidhan Bhawan, and the Bombay High Court during the morning hours. As soon as the messages were detected, security personnel initiated emergency protocols at all three sites.

Police teams, along with specialists from the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad, quickly arrived at the affected premises to begin systematic inspections. Entry points were secured and people inside the buildings were guided to safer areas while security checks were conducted.

Authorities confirmed that precautionary searches were carried out throughout the buildings and surrounding areas to ensure that no suspicious objects were present. Officers remained stationed at the locations while the verification process continued.

Police say safety measures were immediately activated

Mumbai Police said that adequate security arrangements had been put in place soon after the threat emails were received. Officials added that the situation was being closely monitored and that necessary legal procedures had already been initiated at the concerned police stations.

Investigators are currently examining the origin of the emails and working to identify the sender. Cyber units are expected to assist in tracing the digital trail behind the messages as part of the ongoing inquiry.

Officials emphasized that such threats are treated with the highest level of seriousness, regardless of whether they eventually prove to be credible or not. Emergency teams followed established safety protocols to ensure that people in the vicinity were protected.

Precautionary evacuations carried out

Employees and visitors present at the affected buildings were temporarily asked to step outside while security checks were conducted. Law enforcement personnel maintained order during the evacuation process to prevent panic and ensure that operations were carried out smoothly.

Traffic movement near the buildings was also monitored as a precaution while the search operations continued. Police presence in the surrounding areas was increased to maintain security.

Authorities later indicated that the inspections were part of routine precautionary measures whenever a bomb threat is reported. However, officials have not yet disclosed whether any suspicious material was found during the searches.

Investigation focuses on email source

Cybercrime experts are expected to play a key role in the investigation as authorities attempt to determine where the emails originated. Digital forensic teams typically analyze technical details such as IP addresses, servers, and email routing patterns in such cases.

Police sources said that identifying the sender will be an important step in determining whether the threat was genuine or intended to cause disruption.

Officials also reiterated that sending false bomb threats is a serious criminal offence and can lead to strict legal action under relevant laws.

Similar threat reported earlier this month

This incident comes just days after another bomb threat was reported at a hospital in Mumbai on March 8. In that case, an email claimed that an explosion involving an LED device would take place on the hospital premises.

The message caused concern among patients, doctors, and hospital staff, prompting an immediate response from emergency services. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad conducted an extensive search of the hospital building and surrounding areas.

After the inspection, no explosive materials were found at the facility.

Authorities continue to urge the public to remain calm and cooperate with security officials during such situations. Investigations into the latest threat emails remain ongoing, and further information is expected once the inquiry progresses.
