Admissions – Delhi University Records Strong Undergraduate Registration Response for 2026 Session
Admissions – The University of Delhi has recorded an encouraging response to its undergraduate admission process, with nearly 82,940 students completing registration during the first phase of the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) for the 2026-27 academic year. University officials confirmed the figures on Tuesday, highlighting the steady participation of candidates seeking admission through the Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduate programmes (CUET-UG) 2026.

Admissions Based on CUET Scores
The registration window opened on June 26 for students who appeared in CUET-UG 2026. This year, admissions to 73 undergraduate programmes, along with more than 100 Bachelor of Arts programme combinations available across 67 affiliated colleges, will be conducted entirely on the basis of CUET-UG performance. Candidates must also satisfy the prescribed eligibility requirements for their chosen courses.
Automated Verification Introduced
To improve efficiency and reduce the chances of mistakes during the admission process, Delhi University has implemented an automated data integration system using the Central government’s API Setu platform. Through this digital facility, essential applicant information such as name, date of birth, photograph and signature is transferred directly into the university’s admission portal. Officials believe this initiative will significantly reduce manual data entry and simplify the verification process for students.
Registration Fees and Next Admission Stage
Applicants belonging to the General, Other Backward Classes-Non Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL) and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) categories are required to pay a one-time registration fee of ₹250. Candidates from the Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) categories are charged a reduced fee of ₹100.
After the completion of the first registration phase, candidates will move to the second stage of the admission process. During this phase, students will submit their preferred combinations of colleges and academic programmes. They will also match the subjects they studied in Class 12 with the corresponding CUET subjects to establish eligibility for their selected courses.
ECA Quota Admissions Begin
Alongside the regular admission process, the university has also started admissions under the Extracurricular Activities (ECA) quota. A total of 1,370 seats are available across 14 different activity categories for the upcoming academic session.
Among these categories, Indian Classical Dance has been allotted 125 seats, making it one of the largest allocations. Theatre follows closely with 123 seats, while Indian Vocal Music has been assigned 109 seats. The university aims to encourage students who have demonstrated talent and achievement in cultural and artistic fields alongside their academic performance.
Colleges Offering ECA Opportunities
Several of Delhi University’s leading colleges are participating in admissions through the ECA quota. These include Miranda House, Hindu College, Lady Shri Ram College, Hansraj College, Kirori Mal College, Ramjas College and Gargi College, among others.
According to the university’s undergraduate admission bulletin, selection under both the ECA and sports quotas will be based on a combined evaluation system. CUET scores will contribute 25 percent of the overall assessment, while certificates, performance records and practical trials will account for the remaining 75 percent. The university says this approach is intended to ensure that candidates are evaluated fairly on both academic merit and demonstrated talent in their respective fields.
