Olympics – Trump Says Men Will Not Compete in Women’s Events in 2028 Games
Olympics – Former U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that the United States will not permit male athletes to participate in women’s sporting categories during the 2028 Summer Olympics, reaffirming his administration’s stance on gender policies in sports competitions hosted by the country.

Policy Position on Gender in Sports
While addressing the issue publicly, Trump said he had previously signed an executive order recognizing only two genders — male and female — under federal policy. He added that this position would extend to international sporting events taking place within the United States, including the upcoming Olympic Games scheduled for Los Angeles in 2028.
According to Trump, the order reflects what he described as a clear definition of gender in competitive sports. He emphasized that the government intends to maintain separate categories for men and women in Olympic events hosted by the country.
“We have made it clear to the international community that the United States will not allow men to compete in women’s sports at the 2028 Olympics,” Trump said while referring to the executive order.
Preparations for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics
Meanwhile, organizers of the Los Angeles Olympic Games have begun outlining the structure of the global sporting event. In November 2025, officials revealed the detailed competition schedule across multiple sports disciplines.
The Games are expected to include 51 sports and 49 separate competitions, making it one of the most extensive Olympic programs to date. Events will take place across 18 different zones located in Los Angeles as well as Oklahoma City.
The first medal event scheduled for the Games will be the triathlon competition, according to the official event calendar released by organizers.
Dates and Key Events Announced
The 2028 Summer Olympics will officially begin with the Opening Ceremony on July 14, 2028. The ceremony is planned for 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time, which corresponds to 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time in Los Angeles.
After more than two weeks of competitions across multiple venues, the event will conclude with the Closing Ceremony on July 30, 2028. The closing event is scheduled for 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time, or 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time.
Organizers say the timeline is designed to allow fans worldwide to follow the event while ensuring smooth coordination between venues hosting different sports.
Ticket Planning and Global Participation
Officials overseeing the LA28 Games have also begun encouraging fans to start planning for the event. Olympic ticket registration is expected to open in January 2026, giving spectators the opportunity to prepare well in advance for attending competitions.
LA28 Chief Executive Officer Reynold Hoover said the newly released schedule will help both athletes and visitors organize their participation in the event.
“With ticket registration beginning in early 2026, this is the right time for fans to consider which events they want to attend and which sports will be taking place near them,” Hoover said in comments published by Olympics.com.
He added that the schedule announcement provides athletes, teams, and international visitors with the information needed to prepare for the Games.
One of the Largest Olympic Events Planned
The Los Angeles Olympics are expected to be among the biggest in the history of the modern Games. With dozens of sports and venues spread across Southern California and Oklahoma City, organizers anticipate strong global participation from athletes and spectators.
As preparations continue, discussions around sporting regulations, athlete eligibility, and competition policies are likely to remain part of the broader conversation surrounding the 2028 Olympics.
Organizers say their focus remains on delivering a major international sporting event that brings together competitors and fans from around the world.
