Diplomacy – India and Iran held high-level diplomatic discussions in New Delhi on Friday as External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar met Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi during the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. The talks focused mainly on the evolving situation in West Asia and its wider international impact, while both sides also reviewed bilateral cooperation and regional developments.
Discussion Focused on Regional Stability
Following the meeting, Jaishankar shared details of the interaction through a post on X, stating that he had an extensive exchange of views with his Iranian counterpart. According to the minister, the discussions covered ongoing developments in West Asia and the possible global consequences arising from tensions in the region.
The two leaders also reviewed matters connected to India-Iran relations and explored areas of mutual interest. Jaishankar additionally acknowledged Iran’s participation in the BRICS platform and appreciated Araghchi’s presence at the ongoing ministerial gathering being hosted by India.
