Witnesses Rush to Assist Crash Victims

Several drivers who encountered the wreckage stopped their vehicles and ran toward the burning aircraft in an attempt to help. Videos shared online showed bystanders gathering around the plane, which had suffered severe structural damage and was resting on its side.

According to eyewitness accounts, some individuals brought tools, including a sledgehammer and a shovel, and attempted to break the cockpit window to reach passengers. Others worked to keep access points open while emergency crews arrived at the scene. The rescue efforts unfolded amid thick smoke and visible flames coming from parts of the aircraft.

Crash Occurred Near Laredo International Airport

Authorities said the accident happened shortly after 10 p.m. on Loop 20, a highway located near the border with Mexico. Investigators confirmed that one person died, although officials had not immediately determined whether the victim was on board the aircraft or elsewhere at the scene.

Dashcam recordings circulating on social media appeared to show the jet sliding across the roadway before striking a light pole and coming to a stop. The crash site was located relatively close to Laredo International Airport, where the aircraft was reportedly approaching before the incident occurred.

Eyewitness Describes Shocking Scene

Among the motorists who witnessed the aftermath was Zayra Garza, who said she was driving with coworkers when she encountered the crash. She described the scene as something she never expected to witness.

Garza recalled seeing an individual inside the cockpit attempting to escape. As more people stopped to help, efforts intensified to break through the aircraft’s windows and access doors. She later observed several occupants emerging from the plane after one of the exits was opened.

According to her account, multiple passengers managed to get out of the aircraft, while rescue personnel and others worked to assist an individual who appeared unable to leave without help.

Emergency Crews Battle Fire and Smoke

Firefighters and law enforcement officers quickly responded to the scene and began rescue operations while simultaneously trying to control the fire. Thick smoke complicated the effort, forcing some responders to move away periodically due to breathing difficulties.

Officials reported that five police officers were transported to a hospital after suffering smoke inhalation. No injuries among people on the ground were immediately reported.

Videos from the scene showed firefighters using ladders and hoses as they worked around the wreckage. Emergency teams focused on removing remaining occupants while preventing the flames from spreading further.

Aircraft Identified as Cessna Citation Latitude

Flight tracking data indicated the aircraft was a Cessna Citation Latitude, a twin-engine business jet. Records showed it had departed from Los Cabos International Airport in Mexico earlier in the evening before heading toward Texas.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Airport officials indicated that the aircraft may have experienced a mechanical issue before the accident, although no detailed findings have been released. Federal aviation authorities are expected to examine the wreckage and flight data as part of the investigation.

Company Confirms Aircraft Involvement

NetJets confirmed that the aircraft involved in the crash was part of its fleet. The company stated that it is cooperating fully with authorities as investigators work to determine what led to the accident.

The incident marks another serious aviation tragedy in a week that has seen multiple aircraft accidents across the United States, drawing renewed attention to flight safety and ongoing investigations.
