Vishal Jethwa: I could only have imagined “Homebound” making it to the Oscars

Vishal Jethwa: The charming role of Chandan Kumar was portrayed by actor Vishal Jethwa, who expressed his satisfaction when “Homebound” was selected in the top 15 Best International Feature Films for the 2018 Oscars. He said that it is something he could only have imagined as the movie moves closer to the Academy Awards.

Vishal expressed his emotional response, saying, “This moment feels surreal and incredibly humbling.” I could never have imagined Homebound being nominated and moving closer to the Oscars.

Argentina’s “Belen,” Brazil’s “The Secret Agent,” France’s “It Was Just an Accident,” Germany’s “Sound of Falling,” Iraq’s “The President’s Cake,” Japan’s “Kokuho,” Jordan’s “All That’s Left of You,” Norway’s “Sentimental Value,” Palestine’s “Palestine 36,” South Korea’s “No Other Choice,” Spain’s “Sirat,” Switzerland’s “Late Shift,” Taiwan’s “Left-Handed Girl,” and Tunisia’s “The Voice of Hind Rajab” will all be contestants of “Homebound” in the “Best International Feature Film” category.

The actor expressed his sincere gratitude for the love and support the movie has garnered from viewers worldwide.

“I want to sincerely thank Karan Johar sir for believing in this story and in us as artists. His vision and support gave Homebound the wings it needed.”

“Neeraj Ghaywan sir’s sensitivity, honesty, and clarity as a filmmaker pushed me to explore emotional depths I had never touched before,” Vishal remarked in reference to the film’s director. It has been really transforming to work under his supervision.

Ishaan Khatter, whose dedication and enthusiasm enhanced every scene, deserves special recognition as well. Throughout this trip, we both learnt a great deal from one another. The whole crew that put their all into the movie deserves this accolade,” he said.

On January 22, the final candidates in each of these categories are anticipated to be revealed. Conan O’Brien will once again host the 98th Academy Awards, which are scheduled for March 15, 2026.
