In addition to some old footage from the iconic 1974 Test match against the West Indies, Soha shared a video of herself in Eden, soaking up the memories of her late father.

“On your birthday, Abba, I wanted to stand where the game remembers you,” the actress from “Rang De Basanti” said on her Instagram account in remembrance of the former Indian cricket captain on his birth day. Even if Eden Gardens is deserted today, it is never quiet for you. (sic)”

She continued, “A ground you loved to play on, and one where you captained India many times – perhaps most memorable being the December 1974 Test against the indomitable West Indies,” recalling the famous Test in which her father played for the nation despite having a fractured cheekbone and helped India win. Andy Roberts hit you in the face with a ball, breaking your cheekbone. Despite being injured and bleeding when you retired, you came back to lead the team to an incredible 85-run triumph. One of Indian cricket’s most memorable triumphs, the Test at Eden stands as a timeless testament to perseverance and lion-hearted (or maybe tiger-hearted) leadership.

Soha concluded on a sentimental note, wishing her father a happy birthday and writing, “The stands still remember you, the cricketer.” My Abba comes to mind. They both belong here. Abba, happy birthday.

On December 27, 1968, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi married the renowned actress Sharmila Tagore.

Saif Ali Khan, the couple’s son, and Soha and Saba, their daughters, are a blessing.

Saba is a jewelry designer, but both Saif and Soha choose to follow in their mother’s footsteps and work in entertainment.
