Ranveer Singh : In his first response to the Ranveer Singh controversy, Rishab Shetty describes imitating Daivas as “uncomfortable.”

Ranveer Singh : When Ranveer Singh mimicked the daivas on stage at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa earlier this month, it caused a sensation. In his first comment after the event, Kantara actor-director Rishab Shetty expressed his disapproval of the on-stage emulation of Daiva rites. He discussed it without specifically naming Ranveer Singh. As a filmmaker, he consulted a number of elders to make sure that everything was shown with dignity.

When making a film like Kantara, Rishab Shetty spoke candidly about the dangers of losing culture and tradition to pop culture. Speaking at the Behindwoods event in Chennai, he voiced his concern with the copying of Daiva rites on stage.

“That makes me uneasy,” Rishab Shetty said. The Daiva aspect is delicate and holy, even if the majority of the movie is made up of performances and films. Everywhere I go, I ask people not to make fun of it or put it on stage. We have a strong emotional connection to it.

Rishab Shetty said that people need to comprehend the emotional depth and importance of these traditions.

Ranveer Singh’s Remorse Following the Scandal
For those who are unaware, Ranveer Singh mimicked the daivas while discussing Kantara after meeting Rishab Shetty at IFFI. On stage, the actor did the same motion despite the Kannada star’s request that he not.

The viral clip was criticized by several online users for being disrespectful to a religious activity.

After receiving a lot of criticism for what was seen as an insult to the Daivas, Ranveer Singh apologized on Instagram. “I wanted to draw attention to Rishabh’s outstanding performance in the movie,” he added. I have the biggest respect for him because, as an actor, I am aware of how difficult it would be to execute that specific scene in the manner that he did. I have always held all of our nation’s customs, traditions, and beliefs in the highest regard. I really apologize to anybody I may have offended.

After KGF Chapter 2, the highest-grossing Kannada films are Rishab’s Kantara (2022) and Kantara: Chapter 1 (2025). One of the highest-grossing Hindi films of the year is Ranveer Singh’s espionage thriller Dhurandhar, which is now playing in theaters.
