Karan Johar: As ‘Homebound’ makes the Oscar shortlist, is ‘over the moon’.
Karan Johar: Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor’s film “Homebound” been shortlisted for the 98th Academy Awards in the “Best International Feature Film” category, and director Karan Johar is ecstatic with the news.

“Animated Short Film,” “Casting,” “Cinematography,” “Documentary Feature Film,” “Documentary Short Film,” “International Feature Film,” “Live Action Short Film,” “Makeup and Hairstyling, Music” (Original Score), “Music” (Original Song), and “Sound and Visual Effects” are among the twelve categories in which the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the shortlisted names on Tuesday.
“Homebound” will compete with “Belen” from Argentina, “The Secret Agent” from Brazil, “It Was Just an Accident” from France, “Sound of Falling” from Germany, “The President’s Cake” from Iraq, “Kokuho” from Japan, “All That’s Left of You” from Jordan, “Sentimental Value” from Norway, “Palestine 36” from Palestine, “No Other Choice” from South Korea, “Sirat” from Spain, “Late Shift” from Switzerland, “Left-Handed Girl” from Taiwan, and “The Voice of Hind Rajab” from Tunisia.
On January 22, 2026, the final candidates in each of these categories are anticipated to be revealed.
Comedian Conan O’Brien will host the 98th Academy Awards once again on March 15, 2026.
