Election – Ashok Gehlot Defends Dotasra Amid Escalating Political Clash in Rajasthan

Election – Ashok Gehlot strongly defended Rajasthan Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra on Thursday, rejecting allegations made by Cabinet Minister Dr. Kirodi Lal Meena and describing them as politically driven and unsupported by evidence. The remarks came as the exchange between the two senior leaders intensified, adding a fresh dimension to the state’s political landscape.

Gehlot Questions Credibility of Allegations

In a post shared on X and later while interacting with the media, former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said Dr. Kirodi Lal Meena has repeatedly made serious accusations against political opponents over the years without presenting proof. According to Gehlot, many of those claims have remained unverified despite being raised before and after the BJP assumed power in Rajasthan.

He stated that political discourse should be based on verifiable facts rather than repeated allegations that fail to withstand scrutiny. Gehlot maintained that no allegation made by the minister against Congress leaders has been conclusively established.

Support Extended to Govind Singh Dotasra

Backing Govind Singh Dotasra, Gehlot said the Rajasthan Congress chief was being unfairly targeted without any factual basis. He alleged that the recent accusations reflected political pressure rather than evidence and suggested that attempts were being made to divert public attention from controversies involving the minister himself.

According to Gehlot, citizens are capable of judging political claims on their own, and misleading narratives cannot remain effective indefinitely. He added that politics should be conducted responsibly and with accountability.

Appeal for Fact-Based Political Debate

Speaking to reporters in Jodhpur, Gehlot stressed that public representatives must support their allegations with credible evidence. He remarked that baseless accusations weaken political discourse and should not become a routine part of democratic debate.

The former Chief Minister also highlighted that the position of a state party president carries institutional importance. He said repeated allegations without supporting facts naturally generate a response from within the party, explaining the strong reaction seen from Congress leaders.

Remarks on ACB Controversy

Gehlot also referred to recent statements made by Dr. Kirodi Lal Meena regarding the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). He claimed that after allegations emerged against the minister, attempts were made to question the functioning of the investigating agency by suggesting it was operating under pressure from the Chief Minister.

According to Gehlot, such statements appear inconsistent and raise questions about the changing narrative surrounding the issue. He said facts should be allowed to emerge through established processes rather than political statements.

Congress Leaders Rally Behind Dotasra

Senior Congress leader and former minister Ramlal Jat also expressed support for Govind Singh Dotasra. He accused Dr. Kirodi Lal Meena of engaging in diversionary politics by making allegations that, according to him, lacked supporting evidence.

Jat said the public closely observes political developments and ultimately forms its own opinion based on facts rather than repeated claims. He added that politics built on unverified accusations cannot sustain public confidence over time.

Political Significance of Gehlot’s Intervention

Political observers believe Gehlot’s public defence of Dotasra carries considerable significance. Over the years, Dr. Kirodi Lal Meena has repeatedly accused the Rajasthan Congress leader of involvement in paper leak-related matters and alleged influence over appointments of relatives to government positions. Dotasra has consistently denied those allegations.

Gehlot’s strong intervention is being viewed as an important political message within the Congress, especially after the party moved into the opposition. The development may also indicate evolving internal political alignments as both the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress prepare for future political challenges in Rajasthan.
