Security Certification – CISF Retains Global Quality Recognition for Delhi Airport Operations
Security Certification – The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has secured renewed international recognition for its security management systems at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), reinforcing its commitment to maintaining high-quality aviation security while ensuring a smooth travel experience for passengers.

The security framework managed by the Central Industrial Security Force at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport has once again earned the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Certification for Security Operations. The renewed certification will remain valid from April 14, 2026, until April 13, 2029, following an extensive evaluation of the airport’s security processes. The certificate was presented by Navdeep Singh Heera, Chief Security Officer of Delhi International Airport Limited, to Babu Ram, IPS, DIG and Chief Aerodrome Security Officer.
Comprehensive International Assessment
According to the CISF, the certification was granted by DNV (Det Norske Veritas), a globally recognized independent certification organization. The renewal came after a detailed audit that examined the effectiveness and efficiency of security management systems operating across India’s busiest airport. The assessment covered passenger terminals, cargo facilities, and other operational zones within the airport.
Focus on Continuous Improvement
The latest certification follows the successful completion of the previous certification cycle and reflects the force’s continued adherence to internationally accepted quality management standards. CISF stated that the renewal demonstrates its ongoing efforts to strengthen security measures while adapting to rising passenger traffic and changing aviation security requirements. The achievement also highlights the organization’s focus on refining operational procedures through regular reviews and quality improvements.
Commitment to Passenger Safety
Speaking during the certification ceremony, Babu Ram said the renewed recognition reflects the force’s consistent dedication to maintaining a zero-error security environment without compromising passenger convenience. He noted that balancing strict security protocols with efficient passenger movement remains one of the organization’s key priorities at the airport.
CISF Director General Praveer Ranjan also emphasized that maintaining internationally accepted quality standards requires continuous innovation, disciplined execution, and sustained commitment, especially as aviation security challenges continue to evolve worldwide.
Technology and Passenger-Centric Initiatives
The CISF attributed the achievement to several technology-driven and passenger-friendly initiatives introduced over recent years. Among these measures is the prompt return of misplaced personal belongings, including passports, wallets, and mobile phones, to travelers before their flights whenever possible.
The force also highlighted the role of the Airport Security Control Centre (ASCC) and its social media monitoring system, which enable faster responses to passenger concerns while providing timely travel-related information and advisories.
Additional improvements include the implementation of Digi Yatra, automated tray retrieval systems integrated with dual-view X-ray baggage scanners, and advanced computer tomography-based explosive detection technology. These systems have helped strengthen screening procedures while improving operational efficiency.
Training Supports High Service Standards
CISF personnel continue to receive specialized instruction under the dedicated DISHA training programme. The initiative focuses on behavioural management, customer service, communication skills, and conflict resolution to ensure that security staff can effectively handle passengers while maintaining professional standards.
According to the CISF, Delhi Airport has also received strong passenger feedback on several service parameters, including staff behaviour, screening efficiency, waiting times, and the overall feeling of safety experienced by travelers. The renewed ISO certification further reinforces the airport’s reputation for maintaining internationally recognized security standards alongside quality passenger services
