CrimeNews – Warehouse Contractor Shot Dead While Sleeping in Ghazipur
CrimeNews – A warehouse contractor was killed after unidentified assailants allegedly opened fire on him while he was asleep inside an ash-packing facility in the Ghazipur area during the early hours of Friday. Police have launched an investigation and registered a case at Dabua police station following the incident.
Victim Identified as Bihar Native
The deceased has been identified as Yogesh Kumar, a resident of Bihar who had been working as a contractor at the warehouse. According to preliminary police findings, Yogesh had arrived at the facility late Thursday night along with several labourers who had also travelled from Bihar for work-related duties.
Investigators said the group reached the warehouse around 11 pm. After having dinner together, the workers went to sleep at different spots within the premises around 1 am. Yogesh reportedly chose to sleep on a cot placed inside the warehouse compound.
Gunshots Heard During the Night
Police officials believe the attack took place sometime between 2 am and 3 am. During this period, unidentified individuals are suspected to have entered the premises and shot Yogesh in the head while he was asleep. The attackers fled the scene immediately after the firing.
Some workers later informed investigators that they had heard a loud sound during the night which resembled the bursting of a firecracker. Since they did not suspect anything unusual at the time, nobody checked the area immediately after hearing the noise.
Body Found Early Friday Morning
The incident came to light on Friday morning when workers noticed Yogesh lying motionless on the cot surrounded by blood. Shocked by the scene, they immediately contacted local police authorities.
A team from Dabua police station reached the warehouse around 5:30 am after receiving information about the shooting. Senior officers and forensic experts also visited the location to examine the crime scene and gather evidence related to the murder.
CCTV Footage Under Examination
Police officials stated that investigators are trying to determine how the suspects entered the warehouse and whether the victim was specifically targeted. CCTV cameras installed near the premises and surrounding areas are being checked to trace the movement of the attackers.
Authorities have not yet confirmed any motive behind the killing. Officers said all possible angles, including personal rivalry and work-related disputes, are being examined as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Post-Mortem Ordered as Investigation Continues
The body of the deceased was later shifted to ESIC Hospital for post-mortem examination. The medical report is expected to help investigators understand additional details related to the timing and nature of the attack.
Police officials confirmed that an FIR has been registered and further investigation is underway. They are also questioning workers and people associated with the warehouse to gather more information that could help identify the accused.
The murder has raised concern among workers in the industrial area, especially those staying overnight at warehouses and factory units. Security arrangements in the locality are also likely to come under scrutiny following the incident.
