Arrests Made as Investigation Progresses

Police have confirmed the arrest of three individuals in connection with the killing. The main accused, identified as Gaurav Sharma, was taken into custody earlier, while two others—Sunil Sharma, aged 41, and his stepson Siddharth—were later apprehended. Authorities stated that multiple teams were deployed to track down those involved, using both surveillance footage and technical analysis to identify suspects.

Officials said efforts are ongoing to locate two additional individuals believed to be linked to the incident. Law enforcement agencies are continuing their search operations to ensure all accused are brought to justice.

Dispute Began Over Parking Arrangement

According to the investigation, the conflict stemmed from a disagreement over parking space between neighbours. On Sunday evening, the victim, Pankaj Nayyar, along with his brother Paras and a friend, had stepped out for dinner after parking a car near their building entrance.

Later that night, Sharma reportedly arrived and contacted Paras, requesting that the parked vehicle be moved so he could park his own car. Paras informed him that they were away but would return shortly, suggesting he use a nearby vacant plot temporarily.

Argument Intensifies Late at Night

The situation escalated further around midnight when Sharma called again, this time regarding parking space for another vehicle being driven by his son. Paras reportedly responded that each flat had a designated parking slot and that one space had already been adjusted for Sharma’s earlier request.

Police said Sharma initially left the location but returned shortly afterward. Upon his return, a verbal argument broke out, which quickly turned into a physical altercation when both parties came downstairs to confront each other.

Shooting Leads to Fatal Outcome

During the confrontation, Sharma allegedly pulled out a firearm and opened fire, hitting Pankaj Nayyar in the chest. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital in Nirman Vihar, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Investigators revealed that the weapon used in the incident has not yet been recovered. The accused reportedly told police that the firearm belonged to his elder brother and had been acquired in 2021. Authorities are working to trace the weapon as part of the ongoing probe.

Community Protests Demand Justice

The incident triggered widespread anger among residents of Preet Vihar. Family members and locals gathered outside the police station late Monday night, demanding swift action against all those involved. The protest reflected growing concerns about safety and accountability in residential areas.

On Tuesday evening, a candlelight march was organised by family members, friends, and residents. The march began from A-Block in Preet Vihar and extended to the main road, with participants calling for justice and the immediate arrest of remaining suspects.

Police Examine Past Records of Accused

During questioning, Sharma disclosed that he had previously been arrested in Ahmedabad in 2021 in connection with a GST-related case. Police officials confirmed that they are now reviewing his background to determine whether he may have been involved in other criminal activities.

Authorities reiterated that the investigation is ongoing and that all aspects of the case, including the accused’s past conduct and the sequence of events leading to the shooting, are being carefully examined.
