Bulldozer –  Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday said that the term “Bulldozer Baba,” often associated with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, represents more than just strict action against crime. According to him, the bulldozer symbol also reflects the process of clearing obstacles to pave the way for development projects across the state.

He made these remarks while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the second phase of the Green Corridor project in Lucknow. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was also present at the event, along with several state officials and local representatives.

Bulldozer Symbolism and Governance

During his address, Rajnath Singh acknowledged that many people recognize the Chief Minister by the nickname “Bulldozer Baba,” which gained popularity due to government action against properties linked to criminal networks. However, he emphasized that the significance of the bulldozer should not be viewed only through the lens of demolition.

The Defence Minister said that while bulldozers have been used to remove illegal structures connected to criminal activities, they also serve a constructive role in preparing land for new infrastructure and development projects. According to him, the equipment represents a broader effort to create a foundation for progress in the state.

He further stated that governance involves not only maintaining law and order but also ensuring that development initiatives reach communities effectively.

Cleanliness Efforts in Lucknow

Rajnath Singh also spoke about visible improvements in sanitation and urban management in Lucknow. He praised the efforts of Mayor Sushma Kharkwal and the state government for initiatives aimed at improving the city’s cleanliness and civic infrastructure.

According to the Defence Minister, the administration has taken steps to address social issues and strengthen public systems that contribute to a healthier urban environment. He noted that removing elements that harm social harmony is equally important for maintaining order and promoting development.

Foreign Visits and Economic Cooperation

Referring to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s recent visits to Japan and Singapore, Rajnath Singh expressed confidence that the tours would further accelerate economic progress in Uttar Pradesh. He said the state has already been witnessing steady growth in recent years, and international collaborations could help strengthen this momentum.

Singh highlighted that during the overseas visits, the Chief Minister continued to maintain his traditional lifestyle and habits, which he described as a reflection of consistency and cultural grounding.

He also suggested that partnerships combining Japanese technological expertise with the workforce and enterprise of Uttar Pradesh could produce meaningful outcomes for industries and infrastructure development in the state.

Efforts to Improve Urban Mobility

The Defence Minister recalled that traffic congestion had long been a major challenge for residents of Lucknow. He said that addressing the problem required coordinated planning between the central government and the state administration.

According to Singh, efforts have been made to improve road networks and traffic systems so that infrastructure development becomes visible not just in official documents but also in the everyday lives of citizens.

He added that such projects aim to make commuting smoother while also supporting the city’s expanding population and economic activity.

Details of the Green Corridor Project

Providing details about the initiative, Rajnath Singh said the Green Corridor road project spans approximately 28 kilometres and involves an estimated investment of around ₹7,000 crore. The corridor will pass through central parts of Lucknow and connect with major routes including Shaheed Path, Kisan Path and the Ring Road.

He also noted that environmental considerations were incorporated during construction. Instead of cutting down trees that came in the path of the project, more than 150 trees were carefully transplanted to other locations.

According to officials, the project is expected to improve traffic flow and strengthen connectivity across key areas of the city once completed.
