Carolina: Salisbury House Gas Line Explosion Injures 11 Firefighters and Residents
Carolina: On Monday night, December 16, a gas line explosion in Salisbury, North Carolina, wounded at least 11 firemen and other civilians. The Salisbury Fire Department raced to the location of the incident, which happened in a home on Laurel Street at approximately five o’clock in the evening.

Within four minutes of receiving the distress call, members of the Salisbury Fire Department arrived and saw a large fire emanating from the back of the house. A gas pipeline within the house ruptured during the firefighting and dousing operation, collapsing the roof and launching missiles inside.
Officials have now said that the source of the explosion is still unclear, despite initial reports that it was caused by a gas line. For medical attention, the wounded firemen were sent to a local hospital.
Two others were also hurt, but as at the time this story was written, their conditions were unknown. The injuries were not life-threatening. Fire Chief Bob Parnell said on Monday night that he is still unsure of the cause of the explosion.
