Viral khabar: A recent video has sparked a new conversation on how Indians utilize public areas. After being seen cooking on a major highway, a family has drawn notice. Despite being on the side of a highway, the video shows them preparing a whole lunch using a gas cylinder and a tiny burner. The family seems totally at ease while cooking outside, and there are no passing cars in the picture.
The guy in the video informs his wife that a lot of people message them and wonder why they are cooking on the go rather than bringing food from home or dining at a food stand. Although the wife acknowledges that it may not be the proper course of action, she clarifies that they are not obstructing traffic. The major road is on the other side, she explains, and they are at a rest area. The pair, who have done this several times, maintain that they are not endangering anybody.

A Family Cooking on a Highway Starts a New Online Discussion
In the beginning of the film, the woman is cooking while the guy and a child are relaxing on the road. “Many people are messaging and commenting that we are cooking on the road and it can distract others,” the guy telling his wife adds.
“We also know that we shouldn’t cook on the road, but you can see that this is a full rest area and the main road is on the other side,” the lady responds.
The family is criticized by many for lacking civic awareness.
“There should be rest areas every few kilometers for this on highways with restrooms and benches so people who are traveling long distances can take breaks,” a user said in response to the post.
“This is really crazy,” said another. In the middle of the road, cooking? That is anarchy, not jugaad. A public room is not a private kitchen, and making the whole place untidy is worse. Being civic-minded should be a fundamental duty, not an extravagance.
One remark said, “The Road Tax should also include Kitchen Tax.”
“There is a massive deficit of civic sense in the country,” someone said. The idea that property and public space may be used whatever one pleases without regard for others must be eliminated from elementary school and made a required component of the NCERT and school curricula via theoretical and practical lessons throughout India.
“Traffic Police should find them as the number is visible and should fine them,” said another. It is absolutely unacceptable.
Another said, “It’s annoying to see people cooking on the road because it makes a public area a health and safety hazard for everyone.” Enforcement should go hand in side with providing individuals with better alternatives since it also demonstrates how some families lack appropriate places and assistance.”
Similar videos are often posted on the couple’s Instagram page. During their travels, they are often seen making or eating their meals by the side of the road while traveling across many states.
