North Eastern Railway: To increase safety, North Eastern Railway installs 980 fog-safe devices, doing away with the need for detonators
North Eastern Railway: There are 980 Fog Safe Devices installed to provide safe train operations in foggy weather. The divisions of Varanasi, Izzatnagar, and Lucknow have each received 415, 250, and 315 devices, respectively. Additionally, line marking has been done on signal sighting boards and illuminating strips have been mounted on signal posts and level crossing barriers.

The Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of North Eastern Railway supplied this data. All passenger and freight trains now have GPS-based fog safe devices fitted, he said. The railway’s first objective is safe and secure train travel, and ongoing efforts are being made to make this reliable and efficient.
Trains may now travel at a maximum speed of 75 km/h thanks to the installation of fog-safe devices. When loco pilots use the gadget to learn about impending signals, their confidence has grown. The fact that detonators no longer need to be placed on the rails by fog signalmen is another important advantage.
