Holi – Police Conduct Security March in Sitapur Before Festival
Holi – With Holi just days away, authorities in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, have intensified security measures to maintain peace during the festive period. On Sunday, senior officials led a route march through sensitive areas of the city to reassure residents and reinforce law and order ahead of the celebrations scheduled for Wednesday, March 4.

Senior Officials Lead Confidence-Building March
The security march was carried out in the Kajiyara locality, which falls under the Kotwali Nagar police station limits. The initiative was part of routine pre-festival preparedness exercises conducted across the district to prevent any untoward incidents.
Lucknow Range Inspector General of Police, Kiran S., and Sitapur District Magistrate, Dr. Rajaganapathy R., personally supervised the march. Their presence underscored the administration’s emphasis on proactive policing and coordination between civil and law enforcement agencies.
During the march, the officials walked through key streets, reviewing arrangements and interacting directly with local residents. They held discussions with shopkeepers, traders, and representatives of religious groups, urging everyone to observe Holi and the holy month of Ramadan in a spirit of harmony and mutual respect.
Appeal for Communal Harmony
Authorities emphasized the importance of cooperation between communities, particularly as Holi and Ramadan are being observed around the same period this year. Officials appealed to citizens to avoid spreading misinformation and to report any suspicious activity to the police immediately.
The interaction with community leaders focused on maintaining calm, resolving minor disputes promptly, and ensuring that celebrations remain peaceful. Traders were also advised to follow safety guidelines and coordinate with local police in case of large gatherings or processions.
Accompanying the senior officials were Additional Superintendent of Police (North) Alok Singh and Additional Superintendent of Police and City Circle Officer Vinayak Bhosale, along with other members of the Uttar Pradesh Police. The combined presence of administrative and police officers was intended to boost public confidence and signal strict vigilance.
Statewide Preparations for Holi
Across Uttar Pradesh, district administrations have stepped up security arrangements as Holi approaches. Law enforcement agencies are conducting patrols, flag marches, and surveillance in sensitive areas to ensure the festival passes without incident.
Holi, known as the festival of colours, is widely celebrated with public gatherings, music, and traditional rituals. Given the scale of participation each year, authorities typically implement precautionary measures such as increased police deployment, monitoring of crowded markets, and coordination with local intelligence units.
Officials in Sitapur indicated that similar confidence-building marches would continue in other localities over the next few days as part of standard security protocol.
Chief Minister Directs Timely Salary Disbursement
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed state departments to ensure that government employees receive their salaries before the festival. According to official communication from the Chief Minister’s Office, payments must be processed in advance to allow families to celebrate without financial inconvenience.
The directive also covers outsourced personnel, contractual workers, and sanitation staff. Authorities have been told to release their wages before Holi to ensure equitable treatment of all categories of workers.
The Chief Minister has cautioned officials against any delays or negligence in executing these instructions. Departments have been asked to confirm compliance within the stipulated timeline.
As preparations continue, the administration in Sitapur has reiterated its commitment to safeguarding public order while facilitating smooth and joyful celebrations. With coordinated efforts between civil authorities, police, and community leaders, officials aim to ensure that both Holi and Ramadan are observed peacefully across the district.
