Helicopter – Emergency Landing in Lucknow After Technical Issue Mid-Flight
Helicopter – A helicopter carrying Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya was forced to make an unscheduled landing at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow after a technical concern was detected during the flight. The aircraft had departed from Lucknow and was on its way to Kaushambi for an official visit when the situation prompted the pilot to return to the airport as a precautionary measure.

Smoke detected during flight prompts precautionary action
According to officials familiar with the situation, the pilot noticed smoke inside the helicopter while it was in the air. Recognising the potential risk, the pilot immediately informed authorities and decided to divert the aircraft back to Lucknow. The helicopter then landed safely at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport without further complications.
The decision to return was taken quickly to ensure the safety of all passengers on board. Sources from the Deputy Chief Minister’s office indicated that the emergency landing was purely a preventive step after the smoke was detected inside the aircraft.
Deputy Chief Minister and passengers unharmed
Authorities confirmed that Keshav Prasad Maurya and the other individuals travelling in the helicopter were safe. No injuries were reported following the landing. Airport officials and security personnel responded promptly once the helicopter arrived at the airport.
After landing, the passengers safely disembarked while technical teams began preliminary checks on the aircraft. Officials stated that a detailed inspection will be conducted to identify what caused the smoke during the flight. Maintenance experts are expected to review the helicopter’s systems before it is cleared for further operations.
Technical inspection to determine cause
Aviation technicians and safety authorities are now examining the helicopter to determine whether the smoke was caused by a mechanical fault, an electrical issue, or another technical malfunction. Such inspections are standard procedure whenever an aircraft reports unusual conditions during flight.
Officials noted that emergency protocols were followed properly and the pilot acted according to aviation safety guidelines. Prompt action helped prevent any escalation of the situation.
Authorities have not yet released further details about the technical findings. The investigation into the cause of the smoke is expected to continue until engineers confirm the exact source of the problem.
Planned visit to Kaushambi interrupted
The Deputy Chief Minister had been travelling to Kaushambi district for a scheduled government programme. According to his itinerary, he was expected to arrive around 11:30 in the morning to attend several official engagements.
One of the main events planned during the visit was the inauguration of the Saras Mahotsav organised near the Sheetla Devi Guest House in Kaushambi. The event was expected to highlight local products and promote regional development initiatives.
In addition to the inaugural ceremony, Maurya was also scheduled to interact with party office bearers in the district. His programme included meetings with departmental officials as well as on-site reviews of several ongoing development projects.
Further plans under review
Following the emergency landing, officials are assessing the Deputy Chief Minister’s travel arrangements and schedule. It remains unclear whether the visit to Kaushambi will be rescheduled later in the day or postponed to another date.
Government authorities emphasised that the priority was ensuring the safety of passengers and crew. With the helicopter safely landed and all occupants unharmed, attention has now shifted to identifying the technical issue that triggered the precautionary landing.
