Gorakhpur: Under the PM-USHA Scheme, Gorakhpur University will build a state-of-the-art AI lab for Rs 1.5 crore
Gorakhpur: The administration of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University has started the process of building a cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) laboratory, which is a significant step toward bolstering advanced technical education and innovation. The estimated cost of developing the facility is Rs 1.5 crore.

Strategic Planning and Funding
The PM-USHA program is providing funding for the study.
Budget Allocation: Under the PM-USHA fund, the institution Grants Commission (UGC) has approved a total of Rs 100 crore for the institution. The “soft component” of this, which is primarily for the skill development of pupils, is allotted Rs 3 crore. This particular funding will be used to create the AI lab.
Preparation: To create the laboratory’s plan, a committed team has been assembled. The university team recently visited NIELIT Deemed University as part of the planning phase to examine their facilities and get technical insights.
Advanced Capabilities and Infrastructure
The new lab intends to provide top-notch technological facilities to give organized research and innovation a new direction. Important technological characteristics consist of:
Centralized Server: The lab will include a high-capacity central GPU server that will act as the foundation for deep learning, sophisticated data processing, and large-scale AI model training.
Workstations: The university’s computer infrastructure will be greatly enhanced by the 7–11 GPU-based AI workstations that will be installed.
Impact on Academics and Future Prospects
It is anticipated that the creation of this lab would start the university’s high-level, structured research project.
Benefits for Students: Students enrolled in current courses, such as B.Tech (AI) and MS (AI), will immediately benefit from the facility.
Center of Excellence: In the future, the lab is expected to develop into a Center of Excellence. The goal of this change is to establish the university as one of eastern Uttar Pradesh’s leading centers for technical education, research, and innovation.
Official Declaration
