Lionel Messi in India: On December 13, around midnight, Lionel Messi landed in Kolkata for his much-anticipated GOAT Tour 2025, keeping the city awake. Outside of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport, thousands of supporters gathered to await Lionel Messi’s arrival, a momentous occasion.
The airport exploded on Saturday at 2:26 AM as the famed football player’s private plane landed. “Messi! Messi!” cries could be heard everywhere. As supporters flocked to get even a fleeting sight of the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner, Argentina flags flapped over heads and mobile phone torches glowed like stars.
Messi was joined by Rodrygo de Paul and Luis Suarez, two of his colleagues at Inter Miami. At the airport, Satadru Datta and his squad greeted the Argentina captain. Messi was taken from a different route when the enormous gathering outside the airport was seen, but supporters gathered on the Bypass road and some even booked the same hotel to express their support for the World Cup champion. Starting at 9:30 AM, the GOAT Tour 2025 will begin with a few sponsored events. However, the event could be delayed for a while since the three arrived at least two hours late at night. Nevertheless, no formal notification has been sent about the same.

Later in the day, Messi will virtually unveil his 70-foot monument in Lake Town. The renowned Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata will host the remaining events. Following a friendly between Mohun Bagan and Diamond Harbours, Messi will congratulate Bengal’s Santosh Trophy-winning team. After that, Messi, Suarez, and Rodrygo will give a master lesson to a number of kids in the stadium.
Celebrities like John Abraham, Leander Paes, Shah Rukh Khan, and Sourav Ganguly, among many others, will also grace the occasion. To congratulate Messi and his two colleagues, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and other politicians will also be in attendance. The great football player will take a flight to Hyderabad in the afternoon when the ceremony is over.
